Dan Graham will appear on the cover of Sports Illustrated this week.  He is the freaking man.  We used to run the touchdown play to him ACROSS THE MIDDLE  all the time.  I remember those days. Back in the day when we had Chris Brown and Bobby Purify and we RAN THEM BOTH!

The Daily Camera reported today that our own Jeremy Bloom is unemployed again. Maybe it is Pennsylvania, maybe it is bad luck, but the fifth round Philly pick in 2006, cut by the Eagles last year, was one of three to get bounced from the Pittsburgh Steelers preseason roster today.

Remember when Scott wouldn’t get drafted if he chose CU? Because Texas is definitely the higher profile team? Let’s see what the numbers say:

Wait? Let me piece this together… CU had a player chosen before Texas did? And more picks on the first day? And thats when we had another down year on top of a few horrible years? Now, to be honest, Texas did have more players drafted overall then CU did, but when you talk about profile, you have to admit that the first day of the draft is where the glory lies. Now that that stupid argument is put to rest, let’s move on.
Now then,
CONGRATS to JORDAN DIZON for getting drafted way earlier then almost anyone had him going. That goes double for TERRENCE “NFL” WHEATLEY!!
Dizon may have been drafted by the Lions, which is a tragedy, but at least the Thanksgiving games are going to have meaning this year. Mr. NFL got drafted by the Patriots. Since Belichick seems to just pull out or develop quality CB’s from you know where every year, I am pretty excited to see Terrence kill it next year. The sad part? Now we all HAVE to root for the pats again. Once they cut Daniel Graham buff nation was relieved of such a painful duty, but now here we go again.
Also, Tyler Polumbus has been signed by the Denver Broncos as an Free Agent. Cross your fingers and hope he develops into a great tackle for the hometown team.

In the first week of the 2007-08 NFL season, two Buffs have already made notable impressions on the league.
In his debut performance with Green Bay, Mason Crosby punched in the game-winning 42-yard field goal with 2 seconds remaining on the clock to beat the Eagles 16-13. Crosby just recently beat Dave Rayner for the job at Green Bay training camp. His confirmation to the team is so new that searching for Crosby on ESPN.com still brings up Colorado Buffalo news. That will probably change soon. . .
Chris Brown set a NFL career record of 175 rushing yards in Sunday’s game against the Jacksonville Jaguars, more yards than he rushed all of last season. Brown’s 175 yards on 19 carries contributed to the 282 rushing yard total for the Titans, and the 13-10 win. Brown signed a one-year contract with the Titans in June.
Other Buffs we like:
Dan Graham (Rocks) had 3 receptions for 24 yards to assist the Denver Broncos with their 15-14 win over Buffalo Sunday.
D.J. Hackett had 1 reception for 7 yards, contributing to Seattle’s 20-6 win over Tampa Bay.
Lawrence Vickers contributed 15 yards and the only touchdown to the Browns’ 34-7 loss to the Steelers. It was Vickers’ first NFL career touchdown.
As of this posting, Jeremy Bloom is still looking for work.

While the Buffs were busy getting it done on the field on Saturday, former CU special teams ace Jeremy Bloom was busy packing his bags. Bloom was one of 22 players released by the Eagles to reach the roster limit. Bloom was a 5th round pick after returning from a 6th place finish at the Torino Olympics in 2006.
While at Colorado, Bloom made 5 touchdowns from 75 yards or greater on punt or kickoff returns. While he averaged over 20 yards/kickoff return in the NFL preseason, Bloom never played a regular season down for the Eagles.

Yes Dan Graham does rock! (The simplest cheers are always the best). Dan Graham just signed a five year deal with the Denver Broncos. It’s worth a couple of bucks. Dan not only went to high school and college in Colorado, his dad is a former Bronco as well. Welcome back to town!
Other Points of note on Graham. His brother needed a kidney last year. Dan offered to give up his kidney and his football career for his brother. Turned out his mom’s kidney was a better match, but the gesture is not forgotten. One more thing we didn’t mention earlier either. Dan Graham was named Captain of the New England Patriots last year.

Joe Klopfenstein was picked 46 overall in the NFL draft. He will be heading to St. Louis to join the Rams. Those Rams helmets look an awful like CSU, so Klopf may need a little time to adjust.

Five Buffaloes will be at the NFL combine this weekend. I like all of their chances to play on Sunday.Here’s the list and my predictions of where they might end up.
Brian Iwuh – This LB has the skills to really shine in the NFL system, look for Kubiak to go after him for the Texans
John Torp – Could play anywhere. Hopefull he shines more than Mariscal has with the Eagles.
Jeremy Bloom – Destined for the Broncos. They have no return man and are desperate for receivers
Quinn Sypnewski – Patriots
Joe Klopfenstein – Patriots come on how cool will it be to have 4 Buff tightends on one team?

Today is the day for Jeremy Bloom to compete in the moguls. He has already made the 20 person finals so we can only wait to see how he performs in the finals. Tuesday, new Chiefs coach Herman Edwards announced the hiring of Jon Embree as tight ends coach. Embree, a UCLA assistant the last three years, played at Colorado and spent 10 years there as an assistant coach. Good luck coach! We’ll be pulling for you (except when you play the Broncos).

Unlike Vince Young, Reggie Bush and LenDale White Mason Crosby has decided to return for his senior year of college. We are excited to have him back. He will continue to be a huge asset for the BUffs next year.

I am not a hateful or vengeful person. Really I’m not. At the end of Saturday, I will give a beer to a weeping CSU fan. I don’t like to hold grudges, and I hope for the best for everybody in life. That being said, a smile came to my face this morning when I read that Craig Ohcs was released from the Chargers. Does that make me a bad person?

Bradlee Van Pelt is taking snaps as the Denver Broncos #2 quaterback during training camp. This makes me want to vomit. When did the Broncos become a haven for unsportsmanlike players? RE: Bradlee Van Pelt, Courtney Brown, Maurice Clarett. It is a wonder that Randy Moss and TO didn’t end up on this squad.

The blurred vision, the memory loss and the sleeplessness were too much for Ted Johnson to ignore. So he gave up the game he loves, retiring from the New England Patriots rather than risk irreparable brain damage.
Ouch that is tough, you can’t blame him moving on. Johnson played for the Buffs from 91-94 and is CU’s 4th all time leading tackler with 409 tackles. Miracle in Michigan – wouldn’t have happened if Ted wasn’t there. He had 14 tackles and a forced fumble to make that great day happen. He spent his whole career with the New England Patriots and racked up 3 Superbowl rings. Not too shabby. Feel better Ted and have fun with your family.

Well there has been a lot going on in Buff land. Our team was manhandled in the Big XII Championship. We beat up on on UTEP after a shaky start. Two Buffs are going to the combine (Wilder and Purify), while McChesney watches from a far. We have a new interim athletic, Jack Lengyel, director who is kicking some ass if I can say. We had madatory seat donations on all seats, and now we have voluntary seat donations on some and mandatory donations on others, but the athletic department is still $3 million dollars in debt. Hnida says investigations are ongoing in her rape case, although she must have some Private Dick rooting around her diary trying to find out the truth, because the county, the state and the university aren’t investigating. Shawn Watson didn’t get teh job at Miami of Ohio; Damn. And finally WR Coach Gillmore accepted a job offer with the Huskers. What’s up with that? I haven’t seen that sort of disrespect since Chralie McBride slighted us.
I think that brings us to the Super Bowl. The Buffs will have the most players on the field out of any University. Read that and weep [Insert University you would like to disparage here]. Look for Christian Fauria, Dan Graham Rocks, Tom Ashworth, and Ted Johnson on the Pstriots side. And for the Eagles look for All-Pro safety Michael Lewis and Koy Detmer.

The Denver Broncos just agreed to terms with former Buff great Ben Kelly. I would pay money to see that man return kicks again. Jeremy Bloom is awesome and so was Roman, but Kelly lit up the field. Was anybody else in Seatlle when Ben Kelly nearly won the game single handedly.
Also Jashon Sykes is practicing with first team on the Broncos. He is fully recovered from his neck injury and ready to pummel some opponents. As long as Buffs on the Broncos are the subject I should mention that Matt Lepsis just got a sever ankle sprain.
Fall practice starts tomorrow..

Well, Rashaan Salaam has made it back to the pros. He signed with the team after impressing them in off season workouts. He is no guarantee to make the squad. There are four capable backs ahead of him on the depth chart. Garrison Hearst, Kevan Barlow, Paul Smith and former NFL Europe MVP Jamal Robertson. Good luck to you Rashaan.

After being back-to-back Big 12 North Division winners, it was no surprise this weekend that six buffs were drafted to the NFL. The BUFFS tied with Texas A&M for the most players drafted in the Big 12 and were tied for sixth overall.
The Oakland Raiders drafted Tyler Brayton (DT) in the first round (32 overall). Brayton was the first defensive player drafted in the first round from the Buffs in 10 years.
The next Buffs to go waited until the third round when Donald Strickland (CB) was drafted by Indianapolis and Junior Chris Brown (TB) was drafted by Tennessee.
Finally, the seventh round was full of Buffs! Justin Bates (OT) went to Dallas, Brandon Drumm (FB) went to Detroit, and Wayne Lucier (C) went to the Giants.
The Free agent market was lead by Mark Mariscal (P), the 2002 Ray Guy Award Winner, who was signed by New Orleans. Other Buffs marketing themselves on the free agent market are Roderick Sneed(CB), Kory Mossoni (LB) and Drew Wahlroos (LB).
We would like to congratulate all the graduating seniors on great careers playing for the Buffs! In addition, we would like to wish everyone entering the NFL the best of luck.
Everyone expected Brayton to be picked up early in the draft but Brown lasting until the third round and Mariscal going to free agency was quite surprising. Many analysts felt that Brown would be a late first round or second round pick due to the lack of talent going to the draft. Was Brown undervalued in the draft? Should he have been picked up earlier? Only time will tell if he was truly undervalued. Mariscal was with out a doubt the best player to not be drafted in the 2003 draft. New Orleans was lucky to pick him up as a free agent.

Former CU running back and Heisman Trophy winner Rashaan Salaam will be among the Buffaloes at CU for pro timing day on March 13th.
Rumors have it that the Chicago Bears have once again shown interest in their former number 1 pick. Add that to their need for a free agent QB (Kordell Stewart anyone?) and one of the best CU backfields ever may be in Chicago next year.

Former Buffalo and Carolina Panther Ryan Sutter is one of the last two bachelors left on the Bachelorette. The world finds out tonight if she picks Ryan. I have a friend who has been in love with Ryan since he was back at CU. Her opportunity may be lost after tonight. But she is not alone as others are lusting for Ryan too.
Sutter currently lives in Vail and works as a fireman. It looks like his llife has worked out much better than the other Buffalo turned Panther.
