Typically this is a week filled with CSU fans making outrageous claims and stupid bets. These fans come out of the woodwork. Coworkers who hide in the corners. Estranged friends from the past. Less than articulate radio call ins. All these people who don’t even know that CSU even has a fight song let alone know the words. They talk a big story and after Labor day we don’t have to hear from them again.

Truth is they have plenty to talk about. They just came off a big bowl win and a winnig season with a new head coach. But where are they this year? I haven’t heard a peep from the Rams this year. Are they so disgruntled about the game being in Boulder? With Sperry and Bell gone from the program have they really lost all hope? Do they believe Fairchild and his quarterback laments? Or perhaps they are all secretly believing exactly what Fairchild is saying privately. The next two seasons for the Rams are going to be rough?

No matter it is good for me. I never enjoy having to explain the difference between JV and Varsity to those kids up north.

Sorry for the lack of roundtables lately, but there hasn’t been a new one for 2 weeks now and I have decided to turn my attention to another important issue, tomorrows game. I completely agree with what Marc was saying, and think he has the best plan going into tomorrow night. We’re going to have lots of trouble defending the explosiveness of their offense, but I believe that Hawkins and Co will have some sort of plan that resembles Marc’s. There is however one area we better improve on from last week that will give the team a significant boost….
Student turnout. The student body last week was a COMPLETE EMBARRASMENT. Students, I’m calling you out to have a better turnout this week. The team feeds off the crowd’s energy, which is why it is typically an advantage to play at home. But when there is no energy from the crowd, there isn’t any energy from the team. That was the case last weekend against ISU.
On campus I hear people complaining about a lack of productivity from our team, yet they fail to fill 75% of the student section at best. If you are going to complain about the team and not show up a game because it’s too early or you had other plans, then forget about calling yourself a fan. I’m sick of the students showing up late to the games and being poor supporters of the team. It’s time that changes. So for this one last home game, I’m calling on the students to be true fans and show up on time, be loud, and fire up the team. We are going to need it. It may be cold, but that is part of the fun and excitement of football. So show up and support your Buffaloes and I’ll see you all at the game… GO BUFFS!!

However, news of any import is still rather dry. Go here and educate yourself on football for a while. Hopefully, by the time you come back, we will have better news than this to give you!
Until then, memories…
It looks like they finally have some school backing as Bohn is asking all fans to wear black instead of the usual gold tomorrow. If you saw any of the West Virginia – Maryland game last night, the entire student section was wearing black and it looked pretty cool on TV. If you’re going to the game, please support the effort and wear black. If you’re not going to the game, shame on you.

During the first two home games at Folsom Field, Campus police have placed 11 people in the Addiction Recovery Center and 128 have been ejected from the game. These numbers are drastically up from previous years according to the Associated Press.
Interestingly, there seems to be an inverse correlation between the Football team success and the number of people taken to the Addiction Recovery Center. In 2004, eight people were sent to the drunk tank and the team was 4-2 at home. In 2005, only six made the trip and the team was 5-1 at home. This year with 2 losses eleven have already had to sleep off their game hangover with the police.
The university has begun broadcasting good-behavior reminders on BuffVision during games. They are also expected to open a telephone line so fans can report inappropriate behavior.
The next home game is October 7th against Baylor. I wonder how many people will get the opportunity to sleep off the game with the police?

Since being hired Mike Bohn has been on a mission to help and support our marching band, thus bringing the team and the band that it serves closer together. Visitthe Daily Camera for the article. As an alumni of the band, it felt like there could have been more support from the athletic department, and I am happy to see it finally happen. Ultimately, it will create a stronger program both for the band and for football…Go BUFFS!

Yep, it’s come to that. Colorado’s new potential star quaterback is being thrown in to a house with five other incoming college freshman. Jarred Fayson, a high school quarterback who will play receiver at Florida; London Crawford, a receiver who will join prized recruit Mitch Mustain at Arkansas; Taylor Potts, a quarterback and Texas native who will attend Texas Tech; Terrence Austin, a receiver from Long Beach Polytechnic High School who will play for former Buffalo Karl Dorrell at UCLA and Cart Kelly, a receiver who scored 1300 on the SAT, who will play at Princeton. You can watch 7:30 on Tuesdays on ESPNU. Most likely you don’t get ESPNU, so we will scour YouTube for hilites.
When Jeremy Bloom did his MTV gig it was one thing. He wasn’t even playing for the Buffs at the time. But there already is a lot of hype around Cody. He is the son of the head coach. I’m not sure reallity TV will do anything to mitigate that hype. And after the last five years at CU, I’m not sure all publicity is good publicity

They feel tough especially after seeing the team in the all white uniforms at UCLA, which I prefer that we never wear again.
Who’s bright idea was it to give everybody in the stadium a newspaper at the game? Not only did we come out looking horrible on national TV as newspapers swirled all over the field. Nobody in the stadium read anything but the Buffs section of the paper anyway. We live in a supposedly environmentally friendly town. That has to be one of the dumber things that the Denver Rock Mountain Post Camera conglomerate has ever done.
Finally kudos to the band for stepping it up with the “Hey” song. The song was not overplayed but was used at appropriate times to rally the team and the fans. We welcome the band back to the CU faithful.

Ahhh, the words to an age-old Buffs cheer. If only fans had been accompanied by the band when yelling this at Saturday’s home opener under the lights at Folsom Field. I was privileged enough to attend Fan Training Camp in the pre-season and Gary Barnett himself encouraged us to make Folsom Field as hostile as possible. It seems to me that 50,000 people yelling Fuck ‘em up! Fuck ‘em up! Go CU! is just the type of cheer that can put the fear of the stampede in the other team. However, the Golden Buffalo Marching Band refused to play this song.
Based on gesturing from members of the band during the game, I was led to believe that a director or higher up had put the kibosh on our fun not fellow students.
As far as I can tell being a member of the band is thankless enough without having the entire student section turn on you because you won’t play the number one fan motivational song at Folsom Field. (Things really did turn pretty ugly.)
So why did they decide to stop playing this tried and true expression of Buffalo emotion? That has yet to be answered. Some say that Fox Sports Net didn’t want to hear the song during their broadcast. Some say that Matthew Roeder, the Director of the Golden Buffalo Marching Band is a straight-laced kind of guy. Still others say that the University is trying to change it’s image and this may be coming all the way down from Ms Hoffman. Me, I just think this is just another attempt to limit student fun on campus.
In any case, Matthew Roeder will know exactly why this is going on. I think he would appreciate an email from every fan who felt slighted in the least by the band at our last home game.
The Hey song will never leave the fan repertoire at Folsom Field. Let’s hope it doesn’t leaves the band’s.

Well we (Kerry, Ryno, Pzo, and me) just attended the very first CU Buffalo “Fan Training Camp” Pretty fun overall.. As with most events there are a few things that I would change to make it better but overall it was tight…
We hear a little from Gary barnett on the state of the team. He is pretty happy about where we are one week into the all team practices.. He is main concern is pretty much been the same concern since last year.. THe offensive line still has a few holes.. Especially with 2 offensive lineman currently on the injured list. When we wathced the scrimmage it was eveident that the offensive line was struggling at times. We witnessed a couple sacks and some scrambles. As usual Robert Hodge has some quick feet under him. Ochs left the scrimmage in the beginning. Apparently he nailed his hand on somebodies helmet and had to take it in for some Xrays. Everything was fine and he was back out in 10 mins.
Best play of the day. Bloom, Jeremy Bloom Punt return for a touchdown. HE looked great out there and man if you want to talk about speed it was unbelievable. Other highlights Strickland interception on Hodge…. TD Littlehales…
Who do you root for in a “srimmage” of your teams offense versus your teams defense. Overall the running game was average. Is that because our defense was so damn good or was it because our rushing game sucks? I guess the best
you can hope for is no huge mistakes on either side of the ball.
I think Kerry, Ryno, Pzo and I are totally psyched for the season to come around. 2 weeks away!!! Go Buffs!
