Buffs Lose Independence Bowl, 30 to 24
filed in Post-game on Dec.30, 2007
Considering we were down 27 to 0 in the beginning of the 2nd quarter, I don’t feel all that bad.
Basically, their defensive line made our Freshmen offensive linemen look like, well, freshmen. Overall, it was great to see the defense and basically the whole team rally from an insurmountable hole to make it a game. Something to build on, and it sure won’t hurt recruiting.
As an aside, did anyone else think that it looks like we might be running a spread variant next season? Most plays had at least 3 wideouts and involved some sort of strange (and ineffective) 3 back attack utilizing a wideout. If our offensive line had been blocking a bit more instead of acting as a turnstile for the very athletic Bama front, it might have worked.
Also, Damn, that first pass was ugly, but Cody sure played one heck of a game! I bet he will see replays of that 3rd quarter overthrow of josh smith for the certain touchdown all offseason. Lets hope it drives him to polish his game and hit the weight room. It looked like his passes had a lot more zip on them then at the beginning of the season.
The 07-08 season is over. Let the ridiculous recruiting rumors begin!

I think to effectively run the “spread” offense you need a qb that can move a little and well Cody can maybe buy a few seconds with his legs he’s not being confused with Pat White, Tim Tebow, Chase Daniel, or Todd Reesing. I guess if we hand the ball to our WR’s then it’s harder for them to drop the ball.

Two losing seasons and CU is still enamored with Hawk? 8-17 is nothing to be proud of Buffettes… Here’s to yet another losing season next year!…

i wasn’t talking about the “spread-option” i was talking about the spread… or some sort of run and gun.
Tricky Rick… good luck. enjoy your two good years before your sins catch up to you

NO Props for the Kid? (Please see prior prediction) I was off by 6 points but the scenario was read like a book. Hey, lets look at the reality, they were ill prepared at the start of a the game, then in the second half, they pulled themselves up by the moose knuckles.W hat happened to “Working on Fundamentals” like Coach Pigeon claimed. Bad Coaching, Period. And we want to give him an extension? I say “Big 12 title game in 08″, or have that loser Bohn find a another Schlub to replace Hawkins. THE COLORADO REGENTS & ADMINISTRATION ARE DISCONNECTED FROM REALITY WHEN IT COMES TO FOOTBALL AT CU.
Now watch, the decommitments will start rolling in, due to the lack of quality coaching at CU.
Who doubts me?

I disagree, and so do rivals and scout…. I thought it was pretty obvious that we couldn’t match their physicality on the lines. Mr. Five Star Ryan Miller got SCHOOLED all day.

Kid, do we have more talent than Alabama? Please. Hawk has done more with less here, and seemingly everyone is on board but you.

Kid, everyone doubts you, because you are way off the mark.

Kid has it right, Hawk is a proven joke. What major program in the nation has back to back losing seasons, that kind of overall record, and the fans are still drunk from the koolaid? None. It is a sad day in Boulder when mediocrity is celebrated as progress.

People should start meditatating for clarity and focus. And I am not talking about the Buffs, but their fans. NO ONE IN THE BUFFWORLD WANTS A WINNER THAN THE KID, NEVER FORGET THAT.
People have short memories. However, being a straightshooter, my comments are always going to gun down peoples beliefs. Sorry Skye, Duffman. The truth hurts.

Why back-to-back losing seasons? Gary Barnett. He left the cupboard bare. You cant constantly finish that low in the recruiting ranks if you want to have any hope of winning.

Back to back losing seasons – true. McCartney was 7-26-1 after his first three seasons. CU had over 50 freshmen starts in ’07. The only other times CU had over 40 freshman starts? 1987, 1991, and 1998. Check out what those freshmen did as seniors in 1990, 1994, and 2001. Hang in there, Buff fans!

Fortunately for us, the recruits were impressed with the Buffs performance. Keep the faith, Kid!

ARBY’s BACK! He got tired of watching Volleyball.
Hate to break it to you ugly, NEBRASKA STILL SUCKS!

Reasonable fans can disagree about the finer points of CU football.
Not so about the Nebbers. It’s official – 100% suckage for li’l red! Oh how sweet it will be when they turn on their beloved Bo in three years, and he leaves for greener pastures. Maybe they can pick up slick ricky by then. Or maybe they could recruit an unknown coach from BFnowhere, NE – the coaching walk-on program!

Trust me there Kid, I have been here all along, only to have every single post deleted and blocked by your cowardly editors here at Buffs.tv.
Congratulations on your big win over the worst Husker defense in program history. I’m sure such an accomplishment makes you feel all warm and fuzzy inside. Never mind the fact that when Nebraska goes 5-7 everyone from A.D. to 80% of the assistants get fired, and when Colorado goes 6-7 you are all patting each other on the back and talking about Hawk’s extension… Quite a difference eh?
Oh and Duffman, Bo Pelini, since you don’t know, would be the undisputed best defensive mind in college football right now. That would be compared to your hack 8-17 messiah from the high school (I mean wac) ranks.
You can try all you like to deny the types of football programs that exist in Lincoln and Boulder, but the records (past and present), championships, integrity, etc. speaks for itself.
I will gladly place a gentleman’s bet, let’s say one case of beer each, with any of you regulars here on this site about which team will win Thanksgiving weekend next year.
Yes Nebraska was a joke this year. Callahan sealed his fate by retaining Kevin Cosgrove. The difference is Colorado is a joke EVERY YEAR. See you fellas in 08…

Oh, the integrity shown by the man with the name “ralphie bites.” Typical, it appears.
January 2nd, 2008 on 9:28 pm
Slow your roll, there, tough guy. You’ll bust an artery.
I know exactly who Bo Pelini is – a one year former assistant at NU whose head coaching experience is equal to yours, and who doesn’t care enough about his return (and first head coaching job ever) to leave his current assistant gig. Talk about a joke – it’s on you.
You nebbers never learn. You’ll chase Bo out of town when the Omaha World Herald uncovers the that he is not, in fact, related to Jesus. Rather than admit the painful truth that there is nothing whatsoever special about nebraska football, you’ll hire some juco chaparone with hopes that it will some how turn out differently next time.
Lather. Rinse. Repeat.
Actually, now I can see why you’re so fired up. It is really is bleak over there in cornworld, isn’t it? My bad. Carry on.
January 4th, 2008 on 5:19 pm
I’m sure your right Duff, the reason Pelini is coaching the BCS Championship is because he’s not really committed to Nebraska. It has nothing to do with the fact that every high school athete in the nation, and countless others, will be watching that game showcasing the country’s best defense built entirely by Bo Pelini while the announcers give Nebraska millions of dollars of free PR while they talk about Bo’s new job between plays. You’re a genious.
Oh, and in addition to being a “one year assitant at Nebraska”, you seem to have left out the fact that Bo Pelini happens to be the Defensive Coordinator of nothing but Top 5 defensive squads for the past 4 years at LSU and Oklahoma. At least he has coached and dominated in real Division 1 conferences, unlike your little chickenhawk. And as far as the lack of Head Coaching experience, you’re absolutely right, he has none, so I’m sure it’s just coincidental that Nebraska has hired the most legendary college football Head Coach in the country as Athletic Director in the office next to Pelini’s for the next 3 years. Probably none of that will rub off on Bo I’m sure.
And you can delude yourself a little more about there being “absolutely nothing special about Nebraska football”. Never mind the virtually endless list of National Championships, Conference Championships, Heisman Trophy Winners, nation leading numbers of Academic All-Americans and graduation rates, etc. Yup, nothing special there at all…
See you in Lincoln in November to watch Colorado’s losing record to the Big Red get even more ridiculous…

Once again I come to read about football, and leave in complete and utter AWE of the CU fan base.
In living in many states in my life thus far, I am truly coming to realize why these fans are so despised around the country.
In looking into CU’s past in better detail since living here the past 6 years, I have more of an appreciation of why they have no national respect.
Jealousy, one word, and that is it.
Bill McCartney was smart enough to copy Tom Osborne’s program to letter in the 80′s. He admits it plainly. And the fruits were a shared NC in the early 90′s.
Since then, the only true success you have had is when your rival teams (so YOU think) are at all time lows. Instead of having class, and winning graciously, your ego to cognitive ratio shines clear.
You call your much superior football neighbors “NEBBERS” even as they applaud your team for beating them on their home turf.
In return, during a Nat’l televised game, the world has to watch your fans be booted from the game for mistreating their opponent.
Or how about CU “fans” assaulting rival CSU’s band at Invesco field two years in a row? It was no more the band that beat your team than all of the vehicles that are vandalized at each home game (even when your team wins?).
Jealousy has an ugly face, manifested in the worst fans in college football, each and every time they realize that they are a second run program. One of which will never have “rivals” the likes of Texas, or Oklahoma, or Nebraska.
Try showing respect to your opponents, and for yourselves for lord sakes, and teach maybe the next generation the same
Maybe then you will someday achieve what you desperately want?
An above average program, that people care to see…….
