Buffs Lose 31-28. This should never have been a game. Buffs were up 21-0 at half. And forgot to play the third quarter
The Buffs made a field goal on the final play of the game to send it to overtime which was discounted. I still don’t understand why. Opinions are welcome.

We have no second half offense. What is the deal with the 4th down gambles? It completely changed the momentum of the game. Totally frustrating. Don’t know what else to say. Finish strong guys. Go Buffs!

Geez…way to blow it Buffs. Apparently, the explanation was we snapped the ball on the last FG before the refs blew the whistle to signal ball in play.
Frustrating. Bounce back Buffs.

I think the whole field goal thing is that the clock starts when they spot the ball after a penalty…otherwise an offense with no time outs would just commit penalties to stop the clock during a late game drive.
As for the 4th down gambles, we don’t beat OU without them. Coach Hawk is going to be coach Hawk win or lose and I respect that.

You roll the dice when the game is on the line. Not when you still have 40+ yards in front of you.

Further review of the rules leads me to believe the refs blew the call. Play starts on the snap….

Skye, the clock starts after a penalty if it was running before the penalty…otherwise teams would commit penalties to stop the clock instead of running out of time…I think every team would trade 5 -10 yards for another play with time running out…I know in the NFL if the offense commits a penalty without time outs late in the game they get a 10 second run off to further hurt the team

If the Delay of Game penalty was actually valid, then we should not have been allowed to kick the second field goal. And had we hiked the ball within the one second time frame allowed, the ref would have been crushed between the line of scrimmage.

I think they reviewed the time of the play to verify we snapped, originally, with 1 second left when the penalty was called, I don’t believe college has the time run-off rule. So they lined up again, and I would think the ref has the power to start the clock while not right at the ball, so we could’ve been lined up and snapped the ball on the whistle…i was on the radio so I was just going off of what I heard

The bigger question is what happened to the team at half time. That was disgraceful. This team does not deserve a bowl game.
I still believe in Hawkins, but these blowout games (K State, MU, and the 2nd half of ISU) are not acceptable. Losses are one thing, getting crushed like a high school team is another. That mental state is contagious, and needs to be squashed, and soon.
I’m not sure this team deserves a bowl game.

If we committed the penalty of snapping the ball before the refs signaled the ball in play with only one second left, it was impossible for the buffs to get the play off anyway legally. Thats essentially what the refs are saying

Players on the field determine the game ie. Eberhart. Not former Nebraska QBs ie. Blakeman.
