I’m a little late this week, but it’s time once again for the editor Big XII pick ‘em. Someone needs to put an APB out on BK, as he hasn’t made his picks for two weeks now. I think he’s hoping that by not picking, he can win the season win percentage crown. We’ll see how that turns out. For most everyone else, it was a tough week last week as only Marc and myself finished higher than .500 for the week. Picks leader Ryno had a terrible week, allowing a few of us to get within striking distance. One other item of note, we finally had a correct underdog win projection as I picked the Cowboys to outright beat the Huskers. We all know how that one turned out. Some thoughts on this week’s games:
@Baylor (+24.5) Texas – Texas showed what they are capable of last week against Iowa State, and I think they do it again this week. Baylor just doesn’t have enough to hang with the Horns.
@Iowa State (+29.5) Oklahoma – Another matchup of strong team vs. weak team. Picking these games is just trying to figure out if the strong team scores enough points as the Cyclones have virtually no chance of winning. I’ll take the Sooners.
@Colorado (+3.5) Kansas – Once again, the editors are confident that the Buffs will not only cover, but pull out a win. We’re obviously biased as this will be a tough game against a very quality opponent. It will be interesting to see if the Jayhawks are affected at all by their first “true” road game of the season. I think the Buffs get back on track and win this one.
Kansas State (+3) @Oklahoma State – This game was the toughest one for me to pick this week. I still don’t have a good read on how good the Wildcats really are and I think the Cowboys are a bit “overrated” after beating a bad Nebraska team last week. The game is in Stillwater, so I’m taking the Cowboys, but I think it will be close.
@Missouri (-3.5) Texas Tech – How does Missouri respond after the missed opportunities in Norman? I think the Tigers start their drive for the re-match with the Sooners with a victory over Tech this week.
@Nebraska (-2) Texas A&M – Seriously? Nebraska is still favored to beat someone else in the Big XII? The home field advantage in Lincoln can’t help this team tackle. I’m not impressed with the Aggies this year, but I’m even less impressed with the Huskers. Give me an A&M win in Lincoln.
