Thanks to a couple of gimme pick-’ems last week, the editors had a pretty good week for picks (including a perfect 6-0 for yours truly). No such gimmes this week as all of the teams are locked up in Big XII matches. My thoughts on each game:

@Baylor (+8.5) Colorado
– Emboldened by the big win over OU last week, all of the editors believe CU continues to roll at Baylor. If Barnett was still the coach, I’d be really worried about a let-down game, but I don’t think it’s as likely under Hawk. CU wins convincingly.

Iowa State (+24.5) @Texas Tech
– While 24.5 points is a lot, I think Texas Tech is still pissed about the game against OSU. Also, with the OU and UT losses, Tech realizes that it is still in the hunt for the Big XII South division. Iowa State is terrible. Tech could score 70 points in this one (sound familiar Husker fans?).
Kansas (+3) @Kansas State – This game is interesting on a number of levels: Big rivalry, chance for the Jayhawks to show that they are for real, the chance for the Wildcats to show that the win over Texas wasn’t a fluke, etc. Frankly, I think this game could go either way, and I’m surprised that we only have one editor pick for KU.
@Missouri (-7) Nebraska – Ahh, the big one for the week (in the North). A battle of two teams that have been winning with offense and no defense. I could analyze this in detail, but I think it comes down to one thing: Mizzou’s high-powered offense against a defense that gave up over 600 yards to Ball State. I think Missouri rolls.
Oklahoma (-11) Texas (neutral site) – Ahh, the big one for the week (in the South). After both teams lost last week, this match up has lost a lot of its luster. No matter what happened against CU, OU is the far better team here and they’re angry. That doesn’t bode well for a Texas team that will be 0-2 to start the conference season.
Oklahoma State (+6.5) @Texas A&M – The battle of the underachievers. Neither of these teams have looked great and both have had embarrassing loses this season. A&M gets some help from the home fans, but I think they have a hard time stopping the OSU offense. I’m picking the Cowboys to not only cover, but win this game to take the top spot in the Big XII South alone.
