We fired off some questions to Matt at the Crimson and Cream Machine. Here’s what he had to say.
What is the chink in OU’s armor?
It’s a small chink but OU has suffered in the kicking game. While the punting, kickoff, and return units of special teams have been spectacular, place kicking has been interesting. The Sooners have missed 1 PAT in each of the last three games and also had a missed field goal last Friday night against Tulsa.
Place kicker Garret Hartly is on the Groza watch list but at this point of the season you can say that is one position where the Sooners have looked below average.
Which player is the most physical on the team?
It has to be linebacker Lewis Baker. The guy flies to the ball and is always making huge hits on special teams and on defense. Another linebacker, Ryan Reynolds, is very physical as well and has been a huge playmaker so far this season as well as defensive end Austin English.
What scares you most about the Colorado game?
The fact that this is Oklahoma’s first true road game. Led by Jordan Dizon the Buffaloes have a very solid defense so if Oklahoma comes out in a “funk” it could make this game more interesting than it should be.
Any chance Oklahoma might be looking past Colorado?
I don’t think so! This Oklahoma team is out to make a statement each weekend that they are the best team in the conference and one of the best in the country. I guess you could say that the swagger that has been missing since the 2004 season is back for the Sooners and even with Texas the following week OU knows that they have to handle business this week first.
Give us a Score Prediction
I don’t think that Colorado will have the ability to stop Oklahoma’s offense. They have the tools to possibly slow them up a bit but not completely stop them. On the other side of the ball I think the match-up between Oklahoma’s defense and Colorado’s offense is very favorable to the Sooners. I’m looking for a final score somewhere in the neighborhood of 30-6, Oklahoma.
We were kind enough to do the same for Matt’s questions. Don’t worry we tried not to give him any inside information. Check them out over at the Crimson and Cream Machine.
