Linebacker Michael Sipili has been suspended from school by the CU Office of Judicial Affairs. He has been suspended for the fall semester This means he won’t play for the Buffs this fall at all. He will eligible again in the spring. Since he played as a true freshman he can take this year as a red shirt year.

I’m all for not giving special treatment to football players. I was disgusted by the crap that went on under Neweasel and Barnet. But I’ll call this what it is:
Bullshit.
Keep the kid from playing if you must, but don’t kick him out of school in a thinly veiled manuever to keep him off the field. That’s just stupid.
As a graduate of both CU and Texas, I pay attention to both programs. Both have it really wrong right now. Texas is a disgrace right now because of what they tolerate. CU is a disgrace because they can’t see shades of grey.

Great, Just what we need, more people making blame on CU football. How do they wait til the day before to make this decision? How can the state of Colorado walk stock and barrel with George Bush, but cannot support its football team in the same secretive and draconian way like in Florida, Texas and Ohio do? And why couldnt Ball State give the monkey from Michigan (we had it with Montana St.) to Nebraska! Things arent fair in Buff Land!

According to the rules, this was the minimum punishment that Sipili could get after pleading guilty. The sad thing is that none of the guys who actually started the fight are getting the same punishment.

If that’s the case, so be it. I’m sure everyone, including Sipilli and the guy he smashed up, will move on. It’s not like anyone comes out of this smelling like roses.
