What do you want to see out of your Buffs?
filed in Players on Sep.18, 2007
Well, here we are, 1/4 of the way through our season (well close, depends on how the rest goes!). We have a game coming up where the team can finally catch its breath. We are not playing an instate rival on a mission of hate, an up and coming team coached by a former national championship winner, or even a team so loaded with talent they could probably forget their coach and still beat most teams on any given night. The buffs are favored, at home, and need to get revved up for the Regular season. Despite all the naysaying after the last two losses, we all expect a big, maybe not easy, but comfortable victory. It is time to work on improvement, not survival. Take a deep breath and think about it. And about where we were last year at this time.
That said, what do you want to see out of this team? What specific area/group of players/player do you want to see to show significant improvement? There are the Wide receivers, the Offensive line, Little Hawk, or even our Secondary (despite last weeks impressive display).
Personally, I want to see our Offensive line just go out there and blow people up. I want pancakes, a very clean Little Hawk, and holes that USC could be proud of (sorry Nebraska fans!). It is time for this group to grow up or get blown up, and if we are gonna blow it up, please do it now before Oklahoma comes to town with their average margin of victory of about 40+ points.
Your thoughts?

I want to see a smash-mouth running game. I’d like to see Charles, Sumler, and Ellis run downhill.
I’d like to see receivers and tight ends actually catch some of Little Hawk’s solid throws.
I’d like to see the Defense shut the Redhawks out.
I know hoping for all that is a bit of a stretch but a buff can dream can’t he.
Honestly I’d just like to see some consistency and some actual offensive improvement. Go Buffs!

Lets get Miller and Kai in there. Heard that Kai is an “animal” Not sure if that means he’s a beast or a Muppet.
And I’d like to see R Walters with good coverage, not trying to be Ronnie Lott on every play and blow someone up.

I’d like to see a new QB at the helm.
It’s obvious the team is not playing hard for him.
If we lose this game I think I’m going to quit watching the Buffs play anymore this season..

BuffDisgust I am with you. I don’t have any friends anymore who will watch a game with me. They say we always lose, never mount a serious challenge and that I fall into a catatonic state of dismay after we get blown out. They need to give Nick Nelson a hard look, and why the hell have the freshman lineman not gotten any game reps? Until this weekend? Blame the braintrust of Dan “Spock” Hawkens.

To say that our QB play is the area we need to improve most is very strange. So a new QB will make our WR’s catch the passes taht they drop just because they will try harder for someone else?

Hawkins flings it for over 300 yards and he needs to be replaced? The kid kept the drive alive until the very end of the game but he needs to be replaced? I disagree that they’re not playing for him. I think that over time they’ll see the heart that we’ve all seen so far. His arm isn’t the strongest but the kid seems to have no fear. It will be fun to watch him mature and improve.
