Recruiting Update #1 RB in love with Ralphie!
filed in Recruiting on Sep.05, 2007
OMFG…. wooooooo!
That was the thought when I looked at Scout.com’s prospect rankings for CU today. A little win goes a long way apparently. I check these ranking every so often, and last time I checked, a certain 5 star 4.32 40 #1 RB in the nation recruit didn’t even merit a posting on CU’s prospect list. I speak of course about Darrell Scott. Scout puts at #1, Rivals ranks us #2 on his list behind Cal, but we can thank ESPN for raving about how awesome and deep that team’s RB stable is all forecast last weekend. If I am completely wrong about this, let me know, but hey, at least I got to share my excitement with the Buff Nation!
UPDATE – Scott is apparently the nephew of Josh Smith. He will be at Folsom for the FSU game.
Other News below the fold.
In other news, Jon Major definitely likes us, he really likes us! He has us at #1 ahead of FSU and UF. Lets hope that FSU continues to tank eh? Especially in high places when the Major makes his visit…
And Corey Surrency continues to think LSU apparently needs more talent… Nothing all that new however. He is still officially listed as a “soft verbal” whatever the hell that means.
UPDATE: There are also concerns about his academic viability. He does not have a highschool diploma, only a GED. He better make sure he gets that Associate Degree this year…
CU is currently ranked last in the big 12 and 65th in the nation when it comes to recruiting. Ouch. Lets hope Hawk does some sweet sweet talking!

OK, Darrell Scott has us on his list, but you make it sound like we’re one of his favorites – it is very unlikely he’d sign with us (although it’d be fantastic).
I hope we can hang on the Surrency. He’s coming to Boulder for the FSU game – how we play there will have a huge impact on his decision without a doubt. He’s interested in LSU, but he also has a visit set up with Florida State.
Hawk will come through with a good class this year. It will be better than the previous three classes, but nowhere near the Oklahoma’s, USC’s, and Florida’s of the world.
Just be glad we finally have a good strength coach who can take a two-star guy and develop him into a four-star guy.
Side note: Our D-line better play 100% better than they did against CSU or it’ll be a long, long day!

The way those sites work is that they rank the teams based on where they stand with the recruit. Currently, CU is #1 or #2 depending on who you talk to. I don’t know what else to tell you. Its still not a sure thing or anything, but signs are good.
A top 5 class would be fantastic, but impossible pending the most surprising national championship run ever. We will do well to get into the top 20.

J-Fly (Josh Smith) is D’s Uncle. They are considerably close. Let’s hope western life is a draw for him. It’d be awesome to get a 5-star recruit.

I hope you’re right, but they list the schools in alphabetic order, not order of interest.

You are all right, I am wrong. They do list in non-alphabetical order, but only when interest is “high” or better. Check the link for reasons why I will continue to hope. Video!
