Week 2 is upon us, and great questions await your humble editors… Even if we didn’t answer this in week 1, that cannot stop us from succeeding in week 2!
That, and the original post can be found here. They have pretty pictures, and well, we don’t. We have a strict no internet-tube clogging policy here, so too bad!

1. By the end of the season, some previously unheralded teams’ bandwagons will be so full they’ll be having to bump passengers and offer them free vouchers and first-class upgrades; others will have emptied out in a big way. On whose bandwagon are you already scrambling to save a seat? Conversely, which team’s bandwagon is being driven by Toonces the Driving Cat, prompting you to leap off now before it careens over a cliff to its fiery death below?

I wish I had one more week to answer this (TCU at Texas anyone?), but being a Hawaii native, I am quite happy to have already reserved my seat on the UH bandwagon. Despite their QB having a less than sterling reputation, he at least paid for his transgressions. Beyond jail time and a year out in the wilderness, being a star at UH is sort of like being the biggest fish in the puddles that form outside my house when it rains.
On second thought, UH is not exactly unheralded. So lets go with a little team called the Buffaloes:)
As far as the burning wagon, I am jumping on Texas now. I think they are due for a down year, and well, I hate them. They are orange (who LIKES orange?), and their mascot is basically a shaved, slow, and cross eyed buffalo. Also in things that apparently “matter” in “reality”, Mr. McCoy (the other Colt) looks primed for a sophomore slump, and their D seems to be finally due a down year.
The rest after the fold.

2. What do you think was opening weekend’s biggest mirage — either a “big win” over a team that isn’t really as good as everyone thinks, or an embarrassing loss (or embarrassingly close win) that won’t seem quite as embarrassing by season’s end?

Well Michigan is sort of halfway there. I think they will rebound and make a run at the Big 10 title. But that loss is going to be as crushing for that program at season’s end as it is now. Or maybe even worse (what happens when they get to Ohio State? The heckling is going to be scarring.

3. Compared to how you felt Friday night, how do you feel now about your team’s chances this season? I’m not just talking about your impressions of your own team — also take into account their prospects relative to this year’s opponents, whom you’ve also gotten a little more acquainted with after this past weekend’s action.

I actually believe our bottom line has improved for the season (I.E. we have a legitimate shot at a bowl), but how well we do is still really up in the air. Instead of 4 to 6 wins as our best possibility, I see 6 to 8 wins being more likely. Our D must gel, and we will find out how bad (or good) we are on Saturday night.

4. Looking at how those future opponents performed this past weekend, which developments are you most excited about? Which of your opponents’ performances have you a little worried?

Baylor. Finally we have a legitimate shot at beating this big 12 north powerhouse. /snark.
Oklahoma has me worried. If they really have a good QB again, they look like a damn scary opponent. No weaknesses have yet been seen in the armor that is the panhandle states lone claim to glory.

5. There are now 32 bowls in D-IA football, meaning 64 bowl teams, meaning any given team now stands a better-then-50-percent chance of going to a bowl. To get that number under 50 percent, we’d have to eliminate three bowls. Which ones would you get rid of?

Screw that. Get rid of 12 of them. 40 teams in the post-season is still a ton! Hell, make a tourney for the top 8 teams, and a tourney for the next 8 teams so that the games besides the top few bowls actually MEAN something to people besides the immediate fans of those teams. Probably even make the NCAA more money!

6. And finally, in 50 words or less, how happy are you that it’s finally football season again?

I am so happy that I could jump up and down on a rack of lamb chops all day!
Muah!
Take care kids, and don’t forget to send your thoughts with our seriously under-appreciated buffs as they make the trip to Tempe this weekend!
