Just a little wrap up for you.
Cody Hawkins is named the starting QB for the Buffs. If everything goes well, this is going to be a four year ride. Hold on.
True Freshman Josh Smith who has been the star of both scrimmages that I have attended, showed nothing less on Saturday. The only problem is that he ran into a wall in the South West Corner of the end zone at nearly full speed. He bruised his kidney and is still in the hospital. He is out indefinitely at this time.
The Buffs running game looked great on Sunday. Amazingly I think Byron Ellis is running harder and stronger than Hugh Charles. Summler looks great and Freshman Lodwick looks great too. Hugh Charles tops the depth chart still so we hope he can make something special happen.
The other problem with a great running game in a scrimmage is. Is it because the defense is weak? George Hypolite and Maurice Lucas were both out of the lineup, but the d-line could prove to be a weak spot. They also showed very little sign of any sort of pass rush. Chapelle Brown recorded the only sack of the day.
Regarding Chapelle: He has a little JJ Billingsley in him. Meaning he leaves his feet when he tackles. It often ends poorly for him
Most commanding presence of the day: Ryan Walters, this guy can lay you out. The hit he put on Kevin Moyd towards the end of the game was priceless.
The new locker room facilities are nice like you’ve read about. Big spacious and state of the art.
Go Buffs!
