Look, we suck this year-period! We need to look forward to a good recruiting class and see what Hawkins can do in the coming years. Forget about the NU game. We have zero offense, cannot win. Any husker that is proud of himself, beating his chest for a victory against us this year is a moron. By the way, does anybody have a link to, or a downloadable version of that weak ass Nebraska kid crying when we spanked them in ‘01 62-36. I’ve never laughed harder in my life. See you next season.

when the Hawk was at Boise State he coached the special teams and was outstanding. I can’t say that I’ve watched CU play but I’ll bet thats not the soft spot. Coach Peterson is a guy who put Bsu at the top of country in scoring year after year. The people in boise didn’t sweat the Hawk leaving as long as Pete stayed put. Hawk needs to look for new offensive hot dog or the Buffs are down for the count. Bsu is soft on special teams without Hawkins. Hope the Hawk can get it going. Go Blue and Orange

Thanks BSMC…The trick was I asked her to marry me just before our losing streak started. Had she known what the future held perhaps her answer would have been different! She’ll be there though. Sadly, she’s got an entire side of family from Nebraska. Made for some exciting times at the wedding. Plus, she controls the cash in the family so she’s the one technically bank rolling my bad bets!
As for our decision to hire Hawkins: you have to give him time. When you bring a coach in to right a totally capsized ship there are going to be a lot of questions and shit talk that first season. NU fans know this better than most. BSMC, remember the good ol’ days? No coach is immune to it but everyone of them deserves a chance to prove the naysayers wrong.

Our point is not that Nebraska this year is some unstoppable force either. NU is on the way back to their rightful place as one of the nation’s elite. They are not quite there yet, but they are getting close as is evidenced by their dominating offensive rankings compared to the rest of the Big 12. We know what it is like to be in a rebuilding phase after having just been there. However in our rebuilding period, one of dramatic change from power run offense to west coast offense, we never came close to losing 10 in row! The difference is Nebraska went out after the Solich era and hired a big time NFL head coach who had led a team to the Super Bowl. Colorado went out and hired a college coach whose only success was against nobody conference teams that are nearly Division II in talent. Big big difference. Also of course we Huskers want Colorado and all of the Big 12 North to regain national status as it obviously benefits us all. But any team in the conference that loses 10 games in a row should be starting to panic. Do you really think Hawk is going to bring in some miracle recruiting classes at this point when your program is in total shambles? Very very unlikely. The nation’s best football players will not want to come play for one of the worst teams in the country. Finally Nebraska will never “overlook” Colorado no matter how bad they are. The fact is you will get rolled in Lincoln this year, just as you did by a far inferior Nebraska team in Boulder last year.

Nebraska fans of the world please pay attention… it is in your best interest to have Colorado to have a solid football program. We need to have the Big 12 North became a strong division again. News flash for NU fans: you’re getting better but you aren’t there yet! Rip on CU all you want, but fact of the matter is this year is all about growth and improvement for us – and frankly if Nebraska was so stinking awesome then I would’ve expected them to roll over Kansas and at least show up against USC. Overlook CU, that’s fine with me – but I believe it’ll be a close game. Nebraska is good, but far from great. And before you come back with some lame ass comeback like “we’re better than CU” allow me to remind you that there aren’t any CU fans in here annointing our team to be some unstoppable force. Go back to eating bugs for Pete’s sake!!!

With respect to the Nebraska fans (its amazing how you guys find these sites and take time to blog – good fans), I can’t disagree with you. As a lifelong Buff fans, I’m disappointed to see so many of my fellow fans brag about how good we are – I don’t know what team they are watching but clearly it isn’t the Buffs. Iowa Buff is the first fan I’ve seen reference this as a rebuilding period – I wish more of my fellow fans were as smart as he is. Come on, we all know that this team is an embrassment to the Big 12 and to our worth adversaries, especially Nebraska. The problem for NU this year isn’t figuring out how to win, it’s preparing for how to not lose. Remember how you always had to focus on the team that was pathetic and had nothing to lose – those are the hardest teams to get up for. I expect Callahan to come in prepared and blow us out – Nebraska will score 50+ points against the Beefaloes. For those that don’t know what I’m talking about, look at our losses to CSU over the years – clearly we had better talent, but we always found a way to lose the game. This season is already a write off for CU, and for those fans who think its anything less, well, the Buffs have as much of a chance of accomplshing anything as the Yankees have of winning the Series. Go get ‘em.

Dream on about the NU game. The Huskers are #1 in the Big 12 in total offense, scoring offense, rushing offense, and pass efficiency. While the Buffs are #12 in the Big 12 in scoring offense and pass efficiency and #10 in the conference in total offense and pass offense. The defensive statistics are almost as lopsided. CU will get annihilated by Nebraska. So go ahead and bring some toy hammers or some other BS gimmick that your program is known for. NU hates the Buffs not because they are a worthy rival or even a shadow of the same program, but because your fans, players, and coaches are continually obnoxious, violent, and unsportsmanlike in every possible way.

The option? Obviously we have some fans in here who don’t know much about coaching football… the option is a great offense, but it takes thousands of repititions to get good at it. You either run the option or you don’t.
Hypothetically, let’s say we started running the option and having decent success at it. Everything would be fine and dandy until we got it handed to us by teams with good defenses and high scoring offenses… then all we’d hear about is scrapping the option to go 5-wide, blah blah blah.
Give Hawk some time. This is a REBUILDING PERIOD. Let him bring in recruits for a couple of years and we’ll start to see the big improvements.

Maby Hawkins could talk to Fisher Deberry or Paul Johnson about running the tripple option. In case you didn’t notice Air Force is 116 in the nation in passing and navy’s 117, I think Jackson could handle 7 passes a game.
By the way Air Force is 2-2 but could of beat the vols, Navy’s 4-1 because they had an extra point blocked against Tulsa.

OMG, I just realized something today. Tell me I’m wrong, but the 2006 Buffs are clones of the 2006 Oakland Raiders! I’m serious, just watch the two – both have no clue on offense, both have a non-existent passing game, both are the most penalized teams in their respective leagues, both lose games that they were once winning, both are absolutely terrible! Here’s a fun wager to have with your friends – which team will win first, the Buffs or the Raiders? That will keep you up at night!
