Buffs Travel To Columbia To Face The Tigers
filed in Pre-game on Sep.28, 2006
The 0-4 Buffs travel to Columbia to play their first conference game against the 4-0 Tigers.
Missouri holds a 36-31-3 edge in the all-time series, but Colorado has won six of the last seven meetings.
Missouri hasn’t started 5-0 since 1981. Colorado hasn’t started out 0-5 since 1984. Unfortunately, the fifth loss was a 52-7 thrashing by the Tigers in Columbia.
Tigers vaulted into the rankings at No. 25 after destroying Ohio 31-6 at home last Saturday to improve to 4-0 for the first time since 2003. They hadn’t been in the Top 25 since the second week of the 2004 season. The Tigers are desperately attempting to avoid a repeat of 2003, when the Tigers went on to lose five of their last nine games after opening the season with four straight victories. “My expectation level is real high,” said Pinkel (The Tigers head coach), who is 33-30 since taking over at Missouri in 2001 but 12-5 in the last 17 games.
Having played in the Big 12 championship in four of the last five years, things are concerning this year in Boulder. Colorado has dropped eight straight since a 41-12 home victory over Missouri last Nov. 5. The Buffs came out ready to play last week, taking a 13-0 lead into the fourth quarter at No. 10 Georgia, but were unable to hold-on.
Both teams bring exceptional defenses to the field. The Tigers are favored by 16 over the Buffs. I expect that the game will be down to the wire again for the Buffs. The Tigers boast some very impressive offensive numbers and rank 7th in the NCAA. However, these impressive numbers were gained against Murray State (1-3), Mississippi (1-3), New Mexico (2-2), and Ohio (2-2). The Buffs have struggled on offense this year but have shown great improvement in each game this season. In addition, the Buffs have become battle hardened after facing their in-state rival, a top 25 team, and a top 10 team.
This game will come down to special teams. Despite their record, the Buffs are steadily improving and adopting the new program. I expect this weekend will be the break-out for the next decade of dominance!!

I’m expecting the Buffs to be very competitive in this game… I know that they can come away with a win, but they’ll need to score some 2nd half points to do it. I’d like to see some that vertical passing that Hawkins’ was famous for at Boise State – Open up the Flood Gates –
Go Buffs!!

31-10 Tigers. Go Mizzou! 0-5 Buffs! The laughing stock of the Big 12!

Realistic “Buff,”
You, my friend are obviously no Buff of anykind or you would be smart enough to know that Missouri always looses to CU. What was the score last time we played? Who knocked you out of the rankings last time you were ranked?
Give me a break. As bad as we started this year we’ll still wreck you fools. You guys haven’t even played a real team this year and your coach is probably the worst in the Big12.
Don’t bother coming back to post on this board until your team has actually accomplished something.

Yeah yeah, we have 4 WINS and you have 4 LOSSES there my friend. I think you are the one who needs to check himself. I know we don’t play big time stud teams like Montana State or anything but at least we win…

It’s a lively exchange on ol’ buffs.tv these days. I love to see the back and forth especially when it’s peppered with the occasional bits of true football insight, which is what we like to think this site is really about. But even the flat out shit talk (within reason) helps grow the community and rally the real fans.
The bottom line on the rest of this season is this: the Buffs need to earn some respect. There will always be critics that will talk shit no matter what we do. But right now we CU faithful are in a tough spot. Our team made a statement last weekend against Georgia but it’s hard to bark back at our critics when we haven’t put up a win since sometime last year. But it’s showtime now; conference play. I’ve been around here long enough to know how it goes: we have some lurkers that like to kick us when we’re down but once we drop a few checkmarks into the W column they retreat back to the shadows. What we need right now is for our team to go out tomorrow and answer some questions and shut some fools up. Go Buffs!

The great thing is if we can win tomorrow, beat Baylor the Kansas schools and win one of the remaining games we still have a shot at the big 12 north. Sucks that a once mighty conference has fallen so low.

I have faith in my boys!! They will get the job done tomorrow! Glory, Glory, Colorado!!

96 buff needs to learn how to spell. “Looses”? How about “loses”. Misery extends itself via the “Misery” Tigers as they hand the buffies yet another loss. Can you say 0-5? I knew you could, buffahole fans.

I love to mock the buffs. 96, have you learned how to spell yet. Looses, loses, lostest? With my previous funmaking of you, I’ll now present the correct spelling. Losses. Either way you spell it, it ends up 0-5 for the puffs.

Hey 98 Buff,
You are such an idiot. How about that “Colorado always beats Missouri.”? Way to go ahead and “wreck us fools”! What is the overall series record now between the two teams? Who leads the series? It’s great that you can say Missouri has the “worst” coach in the Big 12 when your pathetic team is 0-5. The Buffs are a joke. You are a joke…

Realistic Buff,
You were right. I guess this year is just going to be painful for us Buff fans. Nonetheless, I believe in the Hawk and know we’re moving in the right direction. Chase Daniels is the real deal and you guys have a good shot this year at the North.

Humility and sincerity from a Buffs fan? I appreciate that. Your fan base needs to demonstrate more of that and your reputation will improve. I hope too for the sake of the Big 12 that Hawk is for real and will get things turned around sooner rather than later…
