ASU tramples Buffs
filed in Post-game on Sep.18, 2006
Well, we didn’t expect the Buffs the to win this weekend. And they didn’t losing 21-3 in a not very entertaining game. The Devils did everything they could to give this game to the Buffs, turning the ball over five times. The Buffs were kind enough to still let them win.
While the Buffs defense certainly played well enough to win the game, the same could not be said of the offense. Let’s talk about the Defense first. Three Buffaloes stand out on the defense. Jordan Dizon, Thaddeus Washington and Abraham Wright. These guys are studs. Wright leads the team in sacks with five and Washington and Dizon are duking it out for the tackling lead. These guys seem to be in on nearly every play. They exhibit the two most important aspects of being Buffaloes – Toughness and Tackling. Good work. Hats off to Lorenzo Sims this weekend too. He was in on some great pass coverage and pass breakups. Greg Brown is really taking these kids in the right direction. One more thing – I love JJ Billingsley. He is hard and energetic tackler. Although it is imperative that he learns that to stay on his feet when tackling. Diving tackles are either spectacular or devastating.
On offense. We could dub this weekend the return of Hugh Charles. 109 yards on 20 carries. Nice work. Let’s put it in the end zone though. Your killer instinct should tell you to cut that long run back in. The passing game still continues to struggle. I’m not going to focus on the skill players who have heard their names called from every other media source. We need to get the O-line performing solid as a team. There was a lot of preseason hype surrounding Fenton, Daniels, Harrison and crew, but that hasn’t panned out. Edwin we will give you a pass this week since you may not remember the game after your concussion, but the rest of you boys need to get your act together. Our quarterbacks have barely been given anytime to throw, they have no choice bu to run. The only success we were seeing rushing this last weekend was on the outside. The line has to open some holes inside so that we can add dimension to our game.
One more thing that needs to be said – I was frustrated with the reffing at the game this week and have been the last two weeks. There have been some bad calls made against the Buffs and some horrible missed calls. And while these calls would have changed the momentum of the game and possibly have changed the outcomes that is not why I bring them up. I want a fair and competently reffed game on both sides of the ball. There is a certain set of rules and standards that football is meant to be played by and I just want those rules to be fairly applied to both sides of the ball. For instance… no I won’t even bring up examples because it will just sound like whining. I just want fair and competent reffing, I think that makes football better.
Keep the faith and don’t miss the beginning of the Georgia game. Ralphie will be there! Go Buffs!

I think part of the problem with our O-Line is the fact we have no passing game, so defenses are bringing the house to stop our running backs and scrambles by Jackson. If we could complete some throws down the field the defense might have to sit back a little bit.

Programs have great runs and bad runs. We’ll see how “sweet” it is when Ralphie, Hawk, and the buffs bring a national championship back to Boulder. Big ups to Hugh and the D.
CU for life!

PAc 10 > Big XII
The idiots at Nebraska would have won if they decided to just throw the damn ball. Freaking pathetic how they gave that game to SUC.

goBruinz!! you are wrong about Nebraska. SC just has too many good players to be beaten at home. And no, ucla won’t get it done against SC either.

oregon buff, shut up. as long as texas and ou get the players they get, hawkins will be way back. remember, hawkins recruited a lot of jucos at Boise and he won’t have that luxury because of the constraints by the cu admin. you can dream all you want, but cu will never win another half of a national title, unless they get 5 “5th downs” a game forever.

When was the last time UCLA beat CU? I remember to beatings that CU put on UCLA in recent history.
