Give the band some respect….
filed in Fans on Sep.01, 2006 by BK
Compared to last year we are dealing with an entirely different team from coaching to athletic director, and it is nice to finally see a good athletic director. Since being hired Mike Bohn has been on a mission to help and support our marching band, thus bringing the team and the band that it serves closer together. Visitthe Daily Camera for the article. As an alumni of the band, it felt like there could have been more support from the athletic department, and I am happy to see it finally happen. Ultimately, it will create a stronger program both for the band and for football…Go BUFFS!

Wow. Dan, it sucks to be in your shoes. At this present moment, you are probably thinking that you are the only coach ever who has been on the hot seat after his first game. Well, I can’t blame you becuase you are. But figure this into it. At CU, its not that football fans are angry. They just dont care anymore. No one will notice you going 0-12. Thanks.

I’m all for the band members suiting up in place of the team. Week after week, they’re the most passionate group inside of Folsom. They’re also the most attentive, and have more football knowledge on average than all of the drunk students combined.
As for Hawk, give him a chance. He did, after all, promise all of us a national title under his reign. I still have faith.

It was an ugly loss yesterday without a doubt, but hold off on calling for Hawkins head. The current roster is filled with mentally weak (wimps) players who allow themselves to be dominated. Hardly Hawkins fault.
Secondly, “Don’t know do ya”, you sound like one of the more ignorant fans out there, and frankly I can’t take anything you type seriously.
You can’t turn an aircraft carrier on a dime, you have to start making changes and you have to give it time.

Hawkins needs a minimum of 5 years to get this team back in shape. Barnett’s attitude is what allowed this to happen. “I just coach football.” is not good enough. Players need leadership. It will take a long time for the progrtam to gain the respect that will allow Hawkins to even begin to recruit the caliber of player that CU needs.
The current crop of players may not be national championship material, but they can do a hell of a lot better than this, and we should support them through the crappy times. Yesterday was a dismal performance. We expect better going forward.

Everyone can point fingers, but it looked like a whole group screw up. If you watch this week there will be a new plan for practice and game preparation, GIVE THEM A CHANCE!!!!!
