Buffaloes Head to Miami to Challenge the Struggling Hurricanes
filed in Pre-game on Sep.22, 2005
Colorado (2-0) will face Miami (1-1) and attempt to to stay undefeated for the season. The battle won’t be easy, however, with a tough Hurricane team eager to get their second win in front of a rowdy home crowd.
Miami lost their opening game to Florida St, and narrowly etched out a win last week against Clemson in triple overtime. The Buffs barely won their first game against Colorado St (thanks in part to a long field goal by super-star Mason Crosby), and easily won game two against a weak New Mexico St team. The Buffs are coming off of a bye week, so they should be well rested and healthy.
The Buffs have played at Miami twice before (1961 and 1975), winning both matches. CU has a 5-2 record against Miami overall.
CU Keys to the Game:
1. Run the Ball – Maybe I’m old fashioned, but the key to CU football has always been a good running game. RB Hugh Charles is proving a great player with back-to-back 100 yard games, and Saturday should be his day to shine.
2. Stop Miami’s Running Game – Stay tough early in the game by making some key tackles, and force young Miami Sophomore QB Kyle Wright to pass the ball.
3. Score Touchdowns in the Red Zone – This might seem obvious, but Miami is going to put quite a few points on the board. The Buffs must capitalize on their scoring chances and keep the game close.
Bottom line – the Buffs can win this as long as they keep the game close early. Score some touchdowns, make some key stops on defense, and keep Miami guessing. Colorado 31, Miami 28.
The game will be televised by ABC, and starts at 10:00am Mountain Time.

When the Buffs win, I will be so ecstatic even though I had to get up at 6Am for kickoff!
