Buffs Start Spring Practice
filed in Features on Mar.31, 2005 by Papa
Wednesday marked the first of 15 spring practices for the Buffs. This year practices snuck up on us without all the talk of scandal. The Buffs open up practice with every position open up to competition. This included quarterback where senior to be, Joel Klatt, is not even assured a job.
The Buffs are returning a lot of experienced players this season. This includes a group of seniors that should be able to provide the Buffs with leadership that was lacking last season. Most of the defense returns intact from last season. Sadly, this means that the secondary that surrendered several big plays will be back on the field. Hopefully with a year under their belt they have learned how to cover.
On offense the biggest hole to fill is at running back. Lawerence Vickers figures to see plenty of action in the back field. Beyond that a trio of young runners will battle it out for carries. The Buffs are hoping for Blake Mackey to capatilize on his strong finish to 2004 and become the go to guy at wide receiver.

Let’s be honest here. Not every position is up for competion. Mason Crosby and John Torp are solid in there positions. Not only are they solid in their positions on this team they are solid solid all conference. And should be shoe-in all americans. Even Playboy has recognized Crosby as a Playboy Preseason All-America team for the 2005 season.
The WR development is key for us to watch. Go Buffs!

The main thing that CU is going to have to do this season is to make sure they end being incredibly lucky as they were last season. What was it like 3-4 last minute come backs from joel freakin Klatt….I mean give me a break. Anyone who knows anything about college football would pick NU over CU this season. We picked up arguably the best HB in the country along with the best junior college athlete in the nation. Oh and I forgot to Mention Zach Taylor a JUCO All-American who was envited to be a coach at the Manning Family passing camp. CU is officially screwed. Looks like its back to the good old day where CU is worthless and NU is awsome. GO HUSKERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
