Colorado Defeats North Texas 52-21

Colorado’s offense finally put on a show for all four quarters, for the first time this season. Quarterback Joel Klatt was 26-for-33 passing with 371 yards, including three touchdowns. His performance lifted the team to a 3-0 ranking for the first time in 5 years, and vaulted the Buffs to the top of the Big XII North rankings as the only undefeated team. Bobby Purify had another solid running effort with 112 yards on 15 carries and three touchdowns.
The defense struggled early allowing North Texas to stay in the game. Mean Green running back Jamario Thomas embarassed the Buffs’ defense in the first quarter, running for 115 yards on two long touchdowns. Thomas ended the game with 247 yards on the ground, nearly matching a North Texas single game record. This game marks the third straight game that the Buff’s defense has allowed more than 400 total yards.
CU’s bye next weekend will allow some extra time to prepare for the conference opener against Missouri on October 2nd.
Bottom line: All that matters in the end is that Colorado is still undefeated. Go Buffs!

With all of the teams predicted to do so well dropping like flies, I think our Buffs are definite contenders for the North crown!! Defense must get better!! Congrats Buffs, let’s keep it rolling!!

Am I happy that we are 3-0? Yes. Am I concerned that we have yet to put together a solid game start to finish? Yes. Putting that second point aside, things are looking up for the Buffs. Those little things, the lucky bounce here, the clock mismangements there, seem to be going the Buffs way. It’s nice to see this after a year, and an offseason, where anything that could go wrong did.
