Goodbye Okruch, Hello Hankwitz

Barnett fired Vince Okruch today and hired Mike Hankwitz to replace him. Emerging details can be found here.
Hankwitz was a the interim head coach for the Arizona Wildcats last season. He has returned to his former position under Bill McCartney. You may remember back in the day when the Buffs defense was feared. Like back in 89-91 when we held opponents to an average of 13.6 points. Well Mike Hankwitz was the Defensive coordinator for us then and hopefully he can help put our team back where it needs to be.
Ironically, the tiltle of the article mistates that Hankwitz would be our offensive coordinator. I was almost more happy, before I figured it out.
Darian Hagan will also join the staff as an assistant coordinator between video and football.
Finally some good news from our program.

Being from phoenix I experienced first hand what a class act Hankwitz is. I was actually a little disappointed when Az hired stoops. Hankwitz did a remarkable job with the wildcats and deserved the head coaching job. Either way, it turned out great for the buffs, and I have been awaiting the return of Hagan to the program for quite some time. Some light through the storm today.

You people are sad if you resort to sex parties for recruiting. I mean Nebraska gets way better recruits than Colorado which is sad cosidering how beautiful of a state Colorado is. Fire Barnett unless you want him to embarrass you more and get a coach who can recruit the professional way.

Finally some good news, I am not sure what took so long, but getting rid of Okruch is a good start. I have not seen anything about a special teams coach, has anyone heard anything? And by the way, NU OWNS, GO AWAY, ENOUGH ALREADY!!!!

i can guarantee that GB and his staff had nothing to do with any ‘sex party’ for recruiting and it’s truly a shame that this story got blown out of proportion the past week.. it’s old news anyway and changes have been made since 01′. hope that the program can get turned around…i’ll give GB one more season anything less than 8-10 wins and in my book he’s history. we should set higher standards for the class act of a program that i personally know CU to be. say what you want ‘NUowns’, but you still suck. i’ll be in lincoln next november to watch your program slip further into mediocrity.

The number one reason Nebraska has not had a sex party recruiting issue is because farm animals can’t report rape.

Quit making crap up about Nebraska when you know that your University is the one with the rape problems. Nebraska does not need to use Sex parties to recruit. We have awseome fan support and Great coaches who can recriuit in a professional manner.

I will admit Nebraska Has had there fair share of Knuckle-Heads but their college students what do you expect. But Rape is not just a crime you can be put in prison for life for doing something like that. But soor Colorado Fans Find Rape exceptable as long as they get a nice recruit

so are we talking sanctions here? how bad is this going to get? anyone have any input? i’m beginning to think that we aren’t going to any bowls (and no, not because of our poor play) but because of these allegations. remember what happens to alabama for recruiting violations it could be 3 years, no bowls. It’s very possible.
