Nebraska Admits CU Football Rules
filed in Rivals on Nov.19, 2003
Straight from the horse’s mouth. I suppose, when you figure OU pretty much has no where to go, it is fair to say we are the hottest team in the Big XII. We are certainly improving while the rest of the conference, except OU, seems to be sagging. All in all, I like this article.

I loved the article. It worries me a little bit that the NU fans and media are being so critical of the team and especially Jamal Lord. That might just fire them up more to silence the critics. Even though we won the last two years, don’t forget the previous years (5) when we came so close and could not get it done. We have improved down the stretch but if we make mistakes (turnovers) and the defense and secondary don’t step it up we could be in trouble. I don’t want to see our team sitting home for holidays, we need this win!!! Not getting a bowl bid not only demoralizes the team but hurts recruiting. LET’S GO BUFFS!!!!

They had some guy from Nebraska on the Fan this morning and he had an interesting point. He admitted that, even though we haven’t won them all, we have scared the Huskers every game since the mid 80′s give or take. Which is true, especially, as BuffLady points out, the last 5 years. This is turning into a great series.
He also pointed out, rightly so I guess, that NU still does not consider this a rivalry and CU fans need to stop whining about that fact until we start admitting CSU is a rivalry now. Seeing as how the two series have so much in common I think he has a valid point. Although I think the fact that NU is in our conference and division and this game is often the Big XII North Championship game kind of makes CU/NU a bigger game.
And my final random thought…This article would be just a bit more powerful if the author had noted that Kliff Kingsbury isn’t Tech’s QB this year.

As someone who had no affliation with either CU or Nebraska 4 years ago, watching the game the day after thanksgiving, you couldn’t help but feel as though this was more than just an average game for the two schools. While Nebraska may give the impression they don’t feel its a rivalry in a attempt to salvage their superiority and act as they don’t care, you can’t tell me that anyone from the NU community isn’t twice as pissed about the fact they have lost to CU the last two years as opposed to being bested by mizzou or even k st. Sidenote: if youre a CU fan and don’t now consider CU-CSU a rivalry, youre simply kidding yourself. About two months ago as the CSU score was shown on the scoreboard, there was possibly one of the loudest sounding booos ive ever heard in sports. Go Buffs, make me proud, send the cornholes home crying again.

Okay does this piss anyone else off? I’ve read in a couple of places that “this years game unlike the past two years, does not have an affect on the big 12 north championship”…um last year I’m pretty sure the game didn’t matter either, in fact prolly meant even less than this year beacause we can at least go to a bowl if we win

Does anyone know how to convert CU Student paper tickets to non student tickets?

HUCK THE FUSKERS!! My favorite game of any sport is finally upon us! I talk more trash in these two weeks than in the other 50 of the year combined! I HATE nebraska. I even hate the color red. I hate the letter “N”, for that matter. I hope we best our previous performance in Boulder and hang 70 on ‘em. Run up the score. F’ ‘em if they can’t hang with us! Leave the starters in all game and let them rack up stats! Did I mention how much I really hate nebraska?

I knew that Cu would start talking smack about the so called rivalry. Let’s see we have played 61 times and Nebraska has won 43 of those is that a rivalry? I guess it is for Cu considering they make people by Mizz tickets to get tickets to the Nebraska game. Pretty sad and pathetic when you can’t sell a football game out and have to rely on Nebraska fans to do it for you. But that is why the Ncaa has stated CU has some of the worst fans in the Ncaa. Someday, somewhere you will yell GO BIG RED!

I also miss anywhere in the article that it says CU rules. I guess you can’t read either. Must come from rooting for the #1 party school. In Nebraska we actually study.

HuskersRule: Your rivalry talk makes me laugh.
Heres the thing… CU considers it a rivalry and gets pumped to play the corn every year. There’s nothing CU players and fans want more than to beat Nebraska. That in itself makes the Buffs play well, even if they have a sh*ttier team than Nebraska that particular year *sic*.
Nebraska on the other hand (for some unknown reason) dismisses the idea of a rivalry and therefore will always have a disadvantage in terms of preparation and concentration for the annual game.
So, do I care if Nebraska doesn’t call it a ‘rivalry’? No, and I hope they never do. CU will continue to kick their ass every year, just as the Buffs have done the past two.

HuskersRule,
I would really like to see an offical statement from the NCAA saying we are some of the worst fans in the NCAA. There are bad fans everywhere including your presious Nebraska. So dont go bad mouthing us unless you have proof not word of mouth!
Dont worry you will think and know it is a rivalry soon. After we contiue to beat you buggeaters you will wish you took us seriously before.
CU will continue to win. They will crush the huskers this year and more to come. Mark my words huskers.
November 20th, 2003 on 5:01 pm
Funny that our school doesn’t call it a rivalry, and even that our papers don’t, but in reality, especially last year and this, all we husker fans want is a win against CU. Last year the talk was that the season could be salvaged with a win and you pour the salt in the wounds. This year the same -we lose to buffy and we might as well have lost 7 again.
one other point, (and i’ll be at the game to watch) If we get down by 3 points in the first half, start the bus. 10 points down and let the landslide begin. God forbid if my huskers get down by two touchdowns early! Why do i say that you ask? J.Lo only knows three plays. And he’s proven he can’t play in a big game.
But anyway – Go Big Red!

I seem to remember back in the day, 1990 to be exact, CU going into Memorial stadium and whooping on the Huskers. NU was ranked #2 at the time while CU was a respectable #9. CU would go on to ear a share of the National Title that year.
Why only a share you ask? Well the voting came out tied with Georgia Tech and Colorado splitting the polls.
Now if I was casting my vote for one team or the other I think I would vote for the team that beat me fair and square. After all, if they beat me when I had a very good team my self, shouldn’t they be considered something special?
Unless it was a bitter rival. Tom Osborne voted for GT that year, damning the Buffs to share in the National Title. Would you do that to any one else but a true and hated rival?
November 21st, 2003 on 10:38 am
I also remember how much Tom Osborne disliked Bill McCartney and was very public about his negative feelings about the Coach Mac and the team.
November 24th, 2003 on 9:44 pm
Katfish – get over it. A shared national championship is better than none at all. Given that NU played both CU and GT that year, Osborne was in a position to make a legitimate vote.
You chose a good name to post under – you stink.
November 24th, 2003 on 10:33 pm
Whoa co-native husker fan, you have a decent point but no fair attacking people on a personal level. The name Katfish was born during a trip to the Big XII Championship. Sure, we might have gotten a little over exuberant. But surely you understand what it’s like when your team is headed to their second straight Big XII Championship…oh wait no you don’t.
November 25th, 2003 on 9:17 am
co-native husker fan – So Osborne felt that GT kicking the husker’s butts in the South was more impressive than CU kicking their butts in Lincoln? I suppose the explanation could be as simple as that. Although, there was no love-loss between Osborne and McCartney. I think that probably had quite a bit to do with it too.
BTW – Who cares if you are a Colorado native? It only makes it that much worse that you’ll be rooting for the losing team on Friday.
November 25th, 2003 on 12:27 pm
Katfish – I agree with co-native husker fan. Any
national championship is to be celebrated – and I don’t think it is tainted because of “Co-national champion” status. CU did what they had to do that year to win the title and deserve the ring. Anyone pointing out the shared nature of the event is just trying to rile you up.
By the way, I know more than a few native coloradoans who cheer for the huskers. They all seem to be very intelligent people.
November 25th, 2003 on 9:15 pm
Hey You know why CU has only won one National Championship. It is because all year long they only focus on the NU game. That is sad!!
