BUFFS win with help from Missouri…
filed in Post-game on Nov.09, 2003 by Dr. E
Saturday was a beautiful day in Boulder! The sun was out, the air was brisk, and the BUFFS showed up to play! For the first time this year they decided to play for the majority of all four quarters. Granted there was still the occasional demonstration of excellent tackling like the Damien Nash 48-yard touchdown off a screen pass with five minutes left. The play calling continued to be predictable and uninspired. The defense did cause 4 fumbles with two turnovers though. The offense showed their ability to score through the air and on the ground. Although, on paper the game played out a different way except for the turnovers. Missouri had 27 first downs, 169 rushing yards and 278 through the air compared to the 19 first downs, 89 yards on the ground and 187 in the air for the BUFFS. The big stat was that the BUFFS did not cough up the ball! I am happy to see the BUFFS back in the win column and hopefully we can win the next two so the boys can make a bowl appearance.

I like how the best idea we have for getting bloom the ball is still the end around or wide reciever screen, we’re basically saying here’s the ball jeremy just make those 11 guys miss tackles and we’ve got a touchdown. Brillant I say.

CONGRATS ON YO GREAT WIN OVER THAT NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP POWERHOUSE MIZWHO. THE BRUINS WOULD ABSOLUTELY KICK THEIR ASS FOR ALL I AM CONCERNED.

Um…goBRUINZ!!!!, your beloved Contusions are a mear 6-4. MU is 6-3 and should finish at about 8-4 (the loss coming at K-State). The Bruins have a loss to a mediocre Stanford team…STANFORD!! Your assertion that the Bruins would “KICK THEIR ASS” is utterly asinine when you consider your asses could barely score on the laughable Illini…only TWO field goals!! Aside from USC and Wash State the Pac 10 is a miasma of mediocrity. I don’t see UCLA winning for the rest of this season. Take your silly posturing back to the coast with all of the other whiny twits and stay out of the way of the Big 12.
Anyway, since I do have respect for the Colorado program and Coach MU Alum Barnett (hey, at least you’ve kept Nebraska out of the Big 12 North for a while), I’ll offer up some sincere (if unhappy) congrats.
Missouri almost NEVER turns the ball over and to hear it happen again and again last Saturday just turned my stomach. Remember guys, Brad Smith is only a Sophomore…

The Buffs are back! All is right with the world! The coaches are geniuses who should get long contract extensions! Bring on the Huskers! Bring on the Sooners again! We are the best in the world!
Sorry, I had to get that sarcasm out of the way. While I am happy that CU beat Missouri, I am also worried because ugly, unimpressive wins like this are all that Barnett and his cronies need to keep their regime together for another year. That means at least half a season of uninspired play, poor performance, lack of effort, and excuses, before they win another

November 10th, 2003 on 11:22 pm
Why are you bragging on the Bruins on a CU website? Take it elsewhere. You’re bragging on a website where a team having a VERY mediocre year beat your team. It doesn’t make sense to me. And since everyone else is throwing out their opinion, I’ll go ahead and throw out mine. Their is NO conference tougher or more competitive than the Big 12. The Pac 10 is pathetic when compared to the Big 12. No conference comes close. So take your Bruin loving ass elsewhere with all that noise, it’s all about the Black and Gold around here. And to MU_Tiger: Few things in college football frighten me more than Brad Smith only being a sophmore. As long as he’s around, Mizzou will be a contender in the north. GO BUFFS!!!

The Bruins are gonna get worked by USC this year.
November 11th, 2003 on 9:42 am
Wow…..goBruinz, you got some anger issues to work out. Go take a dip in the pacific down there in Westwood, that’s always fun. Maybe Disneyland…lots of happy people there. I don’t know if we’ve scheduled another game but weren’t the drubbing in the rose bowl and the game we beat you here enough?
November 11th, 2003 on 10:12 am
I would suggest that GoBruinz needs some professional help if the best thing he/she/it has to do is post racist, sexist vulgar remarks on a Buff website (note there is a comment by GoBruinz on almost every story on this site). They have medications for anger issues but by the comments posted, I would say Bruinz needs to stop self-medicating and check into detox.

Gammp, Booty, Brett, Kevin, and BuffLady, I couldnt agree more. i havent said anything yet because i was attempting to ignore a person with definate issues.
Go Buffs. By the way GoBruinz, 16-14 this year 31-17 last year. By the way the 14 points you put on us this year was our best defencive showing this year. Good bye.

Future? 16 of 24 players are freshmen and sophmores. Alumni have been talking about a national title as we return our quarterback, halfback, fullback, most of both lines, and most db’s. oh yeah, and Synewski, Harris, and Purify are all redshirting and coming back. In the meantime Ill watch the baby blue briuns lose to cross town rivals USC yet again this year. Its too bad your house burned down.
November 11th, 2003 on 5:29 pm
YO BEEYOTCH. WOW IM SO FUC*IN SCARED OVER THAT ONE. WHAT HAPPENED TO YOUR AWESOM RUNNING GAME? OH YEA, WE TOOK AWAY BIENEMY FROM YA. HA BITCHEZ!
YOU QB KLAT WON’T BE ABLE TO DO SHEEYET AGAINST UCLA IF THEY PLAYED RIGHT NOW.
UCLA WILL DESTROY SUC AND THEN START WINNING NCS, WHILE THE PUFFS TAKE THE ANNUAL TRIP BACK TO NOWHERE. CU SUCKS!!!

I don’t know who is the worse jackanapes – goBRUINZ!!!! or Barnett.
I had to write, because I saw an article in the Daily Camera in which one of the Buffs said that a 6-6 season is acceptable and nothing to be ashamed of. I revert to my base message – this is not and should not be acceptable ever! You should aspire to perfection always. I am not saying they should be unrealistic and demand an undefeated season, but they sure as hell should aspire to that always!
A loss is a given, everyone loses at some point. That said, a loss should never be acceptable. Their job is to play football, and when they lose they are not doing their job well. It is that simple.
I don’t want change because the Buffs have lost games. I want change because they have lost games that they should never lose – BAYLOR – and they accept it as part of the deal. This is a defeatist attitude, an aspiration to mediocrity, an acceptance of the enervation of the team that I saw win a national championship title!
Coach Mac would never have accepted this type of performance. He endured these types of seasons, but he never accepted them. The impudent coach Barnett believes this to be a successful campaign. I let you decide which type of coach you would rather have.
November 11th, 2003 on 8:12 pm
Seriously, GoBruinz….GoAway. All that you type is blah blah blah blah. Two head coaches in a fist fight? Now you’re retarded. This is like the “My dad can beat up your dad” deal. We beat you this year and the year before. As far as scheduling another game this year, I really don’t have that kind of pull. Sorry. You might try the administrators, but you might want to tone down all the “Beeyatch’s” and “Bitchez” if you want them to listen. I doubt seriously that they would call back, though. But good luck with it, you sound really passionate about it. Or maybe psychotic is the word.
Anyways, are Sypniewski and Purify really filing for medical redshirts? I hadn’t heard anything about this. Good news if it’s true. I’m getting syked for Iowa State, anyone else? It’s just a matter of which Buff team shows up!!

“OREGON STATE WINS 45-1″ … ?
You make me laugh goBRUINZ. You remind me of those crap talking nebraska fans that love coming to this site. You, like the Husker fans, are just upset that CU won the last two years running.
Better luck next time.

Sypnewski is redshirting due to surgery on his toe. Purify isnt a definate, but its pretty sure that he will be back next year.
Has anybody heard about Bernard Jackson? Hes a dual threat quarter back from california that the Buffs picked up in last years recruit class. Hes supposed to be nasty, but with Klatts surprising emergence I dont know if well ever seen Bernard.
November 13th, 2003 on 2:54 pm
Bernard will get a chance to play. Klatt is a sophomore this year and Jackson will redshirt. That means when Klatt is finished (2 more years), Jackson will have two years of eligibility left. At that point Jackson’s biggest worry will be beating out Brian White who was also a highly touted recruit this year.
November 13th, 2003 on 7:08 pm
As exciting as it will be to see Jackson or White play, I’m more excited about seeing just how good Joel Klatt will become. At times, he’s played like a sophmore, but for the most part, he’s surpassed all expectations. I did not think he would play as well as he has this year. In my opinion, he’s the bright spot of this season. Him and our receiving corps. D.J. Hackett is simply amazing. NFL teams would be crazy not to pick up this guy. Hopefully Bloom will return and we can find ways to get him the ball, also.
November 14th, 2003 on 4:57 pm
Klatt is going to be awesome. How amazing are the buffs going to be in 2 years with Klatt and our young defense!? I hope it snows for the Nebraska game, that would be cool.
November 14th, 2003 on 5:00 pm
Cool! It would be freezing! Ha ha, get it? So who are the Buffs going to beat in their bowl game this year?
November 15th, 2003 on 10:18 pm
Do u guys think gobruinz is going to come back? His “dominating, awesome, traditional, powerhouse” bruins had a huge showing today against the mighty ducks. Too bad his lame team couldn’t back up his ebonics talk.
Way to go gobruinz…
How about them “big red” and their mighty black shirt defense? They are definitely back. Back towards the bottom like last year. Bye Bye Stolich. See u in Boulder…

GoBruinz,
Shut-up and quit being an Idiot. No one, Buff or Husker fans, want to listen to your crap!!
