Baylor Mauls Colorado
filed in Post-game on Oct.05, 2003
The Buffaloes suffered their most embarrassing defeat in many years yesterday, losing to Baylor 42-30. The Bears lit up the Buffs’ defense for 410 yards total defense, including a career best 166 rushing yards for Rashad Armstrong. The secondary was beat as usual on many passing plays, the offense turned the ball over 4 times, 57 yards of total rushing, and the kicking game continued to stink.
I’m extremely disappointed by the sloppy play of the Buffs but hopefully the team is not going to implode because of this devistating loss. Some people on the pregame thread are calling for the firing of Gary Barnett, but I for one think thats premature. Don’t forget that he did lead us to back to back Big XII north titles and there are other coaches that are responsible for the offense and defense.
From this point on, none of the remaining games are “gimmes”. Barnett needs to regroup and repair the team for a tough game against Kansas on Saturday.
And congratulations to the Baylor Bears, you deserved the win.

None of the games are gimmes? I’m questioning if we can win again this season. The team is in shambles. Nobody has any confidence or passion right now. Everyone is going through the motions. I think the words of Homer sum it up best. We are the “suckiest bunch of sucks that ever sucked”.
Okruch and Vance Joseph should be fired immediately. They have continued to show their incompetence all season long, and illustrated just how important the late Tom McMahon was to this defense. Next on the chopping block Shawn Watson. 4th and 1 and they run Calhoun around the right side? Give me a break. Barnett needs to show some guts and make these personell changes sooner than later or his head will have to roll as well..
And you know what is going to really start to hurt. We have a limited number of scholarships this year, due to Rick baltantly flaunting the NCAA rules. We are still paying.
I am a Buff fan and will continue to stand behind teh team, but something needs to happen to elevate our play on the field and apparently the “Bloodbath trilogy” wasn’t enough…

Marc you sound sad. I think you need a hug.
October 5th, 2003 on 6:12 pm
One more thing.. Perhaps we should hire a special teams coach. That might help stop some of our sucking.
October 5th, 2003 on 6:26 pm
I totally agree with Marc. I think that the departure of Okruch nad Joseph is far overdue. There needs to be some new blood on the sidelines for the Buffs (and a special teams coach might not hurt). I also think they need a tackling and toughness coach. I have seen Junior High School teams that block and hit better than a division 1 team that we call the Buffs! It is time for a change while we can still salvage a season out of this year. For the sake of the program and the University, Barnett please make some changes…

Marc feels the way the rest of us feel. My entire week is going to suck so bad. For those of us who bleed Black and Gold, we are tempted to not watch another game of college football, or even pick up a newspaper. I have tickets to the Tech/CU game, and I’m really questioning going to the game. I’d hate to say I was there when BJ Symons broke David Kilnger’s record for passing yards in a game. And who are we kidding?!? It could really happen!! I just wonder what is going through Barnett’s head right now. “Um, maybe we should do something different?” I’m still in shock. Please, someone cheer me up.

Well if giving up 47 points in back to back weeks wasn’t a wake up call for this squad, hopefully a crushing defeat to one of the big 12 worst will light a spark in this team and someone will step up and make some plays…maybe Barnett should call up Bill McCartney and have him come in and say something to the group

If the players get buffalo stickers for good plays they should get vagina stickers for poor plays. Hand em’ out Monday. I guess god likes Baptists more than he likes mormons. I dont pay tuiton to lose to Baylor.

Did anyone read the article on CUBUFFS.com? It said we had a “Players Only” meeting on Sunday afternoon. Maybe they were 1/2 as pissed off as we were, and they’re going to hand Kansas their ass this Saturday? What?!? Optimism?!!? It’s time to put the loss behind, and get behind our Buffs!! Remember, we all bleed black and gold!! Fuck ‘em up, fuck ‘em up, GO CU!!!

We’re not “elete”. We always have been a team that can lose to anyone on any day or beat anyone on any day. We may lose to Kansas Saturday, but look out Oklahoma! Nebraska will be a dog fight, but the Buffs will win that game. We’re at the low point of the season. No place to go but up!

It’s a good bet you’ll never have a program that gets on top and stays there for one reason: the constant obsession and Big Red envy. Want proof? OK –what’s the biggest event in your life–let me guess–has something to do with the numbers 62 and 36. Pretty lame. Face it–you’re program’s whole existance revolves around hating and chasing Nebraska.

Thanks for posting your opinion, Brad! We appreciate it!

Brad,
Our program focuses on winning the Big XII North, winning the Big XII Championship and making a run at the BCS, while graduating a hell of a lot more players than Nebraska ever will. If we happen to ROLL through Nebraska on the way…well that rocks.

Hey Parkes…
Wondering where you are getting your statistics on graduation rates? Probably the same place the rest of you CU fans get your facts….weed ville..
You sound like the typical Ralphie’s ass CU fan – here’s a copy of what I just pulled off the internet – published from USA today as of 3 September this year…seems like Nebraska football players have a 57% grad rate and CU players have a 44% – last time I checked that was 13% BETTER. Let me guess, your a Mathematics Major at CU (probably from California).

Shawn,
What are you wasting your time on a Buff’s website for anyway? Guess people in Nebraska have nothing better to do. By the way, nice game against Mizzou. Doesn’t look like your program will be staying on top for long. I guess to make yourself feel better you need to come to someone else’s message board to talk smack. Loser. Go back to your Husker boards to piss and moan about it. Besides, we have plenty more to do than football here. As for academics, I don’t recall ever seeing Nebraska even crack the top 100 colleges rated by US News and World Report, Princeton Review, or any other such source. Why don’t you work on the qualilty of education first? That’s the last I’ll say. This site’s for talking football, not lame crap from Nebraska.
October 13th, 2003 on 7:31 am
Shawn,
While you have never said if you are a graduate of the University of Nebraska or not, I am guessing the answer is no. In case you didn’t quite understand that table you posted the (+8) after your team’s 57% graduation rate means that the football team graduates 8% more students than the overall male student body. So that means that less than half of the men who attend NU ever graduate. Impressive.
