I was at the game last night. It was an ugly night of basketball and we struggled since Morandis was out with an ankle injury. I am proud of the way the guys stepped up and took care of business. Here’s where I think we stand. We obviously need to beat Nebraska at home on Saturday. That would give us a 9-7 record in the Big 12, securing at worst the #6 seed in the tourney. We probably need to win our first Big 12 tournament game (most likely verses Kansas State or Baylor) to be assured of a NCAA bid. Good luck boys.

Well it looks like we secured at least a .500 conference record. And beat up on 4 top 25 teams. Keep it up Buffs

At this point, I think we need to win our last three games and at least one game in the conference tournament to have a shot. The loss to Iowa State combined with Texas Tech’s upset of Oklahoma State really hurt us. Not the we really deserve to be in the dance anyway.

Well, we can beat Mizzou, but not Iowa St. so what does that say? I think we still have a lingering chance, but we have to beat Baylor and Neb. for sure, and then hopefully beat OSU to have a shot.
Why do we seem to falter so badly on the road? lack of confidence? lack of motivation?

Don’t get your hopes up if they don’t win any road games. No Big XII team has ever made the tourney with an 8-8 conference record. On the flip side, no Big XII with a 9-7 or better conference record has ever failed to make it. It looks like we played decent on the road last night against Kansas, so hopefully we can continue to improve on the road. When it comes down to it, if we can’t beat Iowa State or Baylor (or both) on the road, we don’t deserve to be in the dance.

Word on the street is that we might still make the tourney even if we don’t win any road games in the big XII. That would put us at 500 in the Big XII, with wins over 4 top 25 teams. Texas, Kansas, Oklahoma St, and Missouri. That is pretty impressive. March Madness here we come.

Unfortunately, I had class last night and was unable to go to the game. Well done gentlemen. I believe the team has now only lost one game at home (against Georgia who made a remarkable comeback with a lot of luck involved). For the Buffs to have a chance to get into the NCAAs, we need to win out at home and pick up a couple of games on the road. The biggest home tests: Missouri on 2/22 and Oklahoma State on 3/5. Best chance for road wins: Kansas State on 2/11, Iowa State on 2/25, and Baylor on 3/1. Once again, I encourage everyone to get out to the Events Center for a game or two. They can always use more support.
