I just got the following from the Boulder Daily Camera:

BOULDER – Two University of Colorado assistant coaches – Jon Embree and Eric
Bieniemy – will be leaving CU to join the UCLA staff under new Bruin head
coach Karl Dorrell.
Dorrell, a former CU and Denver Bronco assistant, made the announcement
Monday afternoon.
Bieniemy coached running backs at Colorado the past two seasons while Embree
was CU’s wide receivers coach.
Bieniemy, 33, coached a CU running attack ranked seventh nationally during
the regular season with an average of 241.2 yards per game.
Embree, 37, coached several top players, including all-Big Eight performer
Christian Fauria, now with the National Football League’s New England
Patriots. Several others have gone on to the NFL, including Daniel Graham,
who he tutored his sophomore and junior seasons and watched him break
several of his own CU tight end records in 2001.

I expected Embree to leave. I expect he’ll get the Offensive Coordinator job at UCLA. Congratulations to him and I wish him good luck. I’m surprised at the Bieniemy hiring though. I figured him to be a CU guy through and through with no intentions of leaving. Perhaps he fell out of favor with our coaching staff because of all of the Marcus Houston stuff. I suppose we’ll never really know. Good luck to both of them.
