I just got the following from the Boulder Daily Camera:
Two CU assistants out

BOULDER – Two University of Colorado assistant coaches – Jon Embree and Eric
Bieniemy – will be leaving CU to join the UCLA staff under new Bruin head
coach Karl Dorrell.
Dorrell, a former CU and Denver Bronco assistant, made the announcement
Monday afternoon.
Bieniemy coached running backs at Colorado the past two seasons while Embree
was CU’s wide receivers coach.
Bieniemy, 33, coached a CU running attack ranked seventh nationally during
the regular season with an average of 241.2 yards per game.
Embree, 37, coached several top players, including all-Big Eight performer
Christian Fauria, now with the National Football League’s New England
Patriots. Several others have gone on to the NFL, including Daniel Graham,
who he tutored his sophomore and junior seasons and watched him break
several of his own CU tight end records in 2001.
Read the full story in Tuesday’s Daily Camera.
I expected Embree to leave. I expect he’ll get the Offensive Coordinator job at UCLA. Congratulations to him and I wish him good luck. I’m surprised at the Bieniemy hiring though. I figured him to be a CU guy through and through with no intentions of leaving. Perhaps he fell out of favor with our coaching staff because of all of the Marcus Houston stuff. I suppose we’ll never really know. Good luck to both of them.

Damn good question Craig. I’m disappointed by the Bienemy decision. I think this guy had a lot to do with our offensive success…which means I think he deserves the credit for our running game and our stable of outstanding running backs. I also loved him on the sidelines. He fired our guys up. His departure is a real bummer.

I will muffle my frustration with the CU program for now and instead extend congratulations to our former coaches..
Karl Dorrell (UCLA)
Bobby Hauck (Montana)
Embree and Bienemy
Me personally I would have paid top dollar to keep Embree and eric around. In fact I would have thrown Shawn Watosn out the door of a moving vehicle to have Embree as my offensive coordinator.
As far as Eric goes does that mean that our chances to become Running back U have gone out the door too?

Sorry guys, but I guess your loss is our gain.

C.U. just let go of two of the brightest football minds- Jon Embree and Eric Bieniemy- that Colorado has had for awhile. I expected Embree to leave when after 10 years loyal hard work, he was passed over again and again. I hope he does get the Offensive Coordinator job at UCLA. I After going to CU coaches clinics year after year,I knew someone Embree would get his just due. Jon, I’d work for you for free.Congratulations. I’m not surprised at the Bieniemy leaving. I figured Eric saw the long line of Black asst. coaches to be pass over, and given token praise.. Jon and Eric were “CU guys” through and through with no intentions of leaving. But how long can you ask anyone (Black or White) wait?
