It’s Nebraska Week!
filed in Rivals on Nov.25, 2002
Finally, Nebraska Week is here, so it is time to bring it.
We can have plenty of talk about Nebraska going down the toilet, all of the calls to remove the old coaching staff, and the matchups. But all of that might just pale in comparison to the huge emotions of this game. I’m inviting everyone to discuss the fire behind this rivalry and what makes it so heated.
Me I can’t wait for this game to start, I haven’t missed a CU-NU game since 1994 and am going to make the road trip this year. It’s a special Thanksgiving tradition.
Go Buffs!

If I may, I’d like to just go ballistic one time…It is indeed a special thanksgiving tradition my friend and I look forward to it every year. Honestly though I cannot tell you why I hate NU so much. They are one team that I hate to the core and I have hated them for so long I can’t even remember why I started, other than I live in Colorado. Of course it has to have something to do with not beating them for so long and because they always seem to be that team that finds a way to squeak an impossible win out against us and then act like it was in the bag the whole time. But when you come right down to it most the time their fans are quite nice, although this year may be different. And you rarely hear a lot of trash talk from their team. So what makes me hate them more than testicular cancer? I don’t know but I do! Just the thought of them boils my blood. I’d rather cheer for the Red Wings than for the Huskers. And that is a bold statement for me! I hate everything about Nebraska. I hate the state, I hate the nice pepople, I hate the mean people, I hate all the players, I hate people that went to school there and then moved here, I hate people that lived here and went to school there, I hate cars with NU stickers and I’ll hate you too if you tell me you went to NU! Most of all I hate it when I mistake my vitamins for my Prozac.

Ryno just summed up my feelings (especially that part about always cheering for the Red Wings). I hear stories about CU fans who now live in Nebraska and I can’t fathom it. I think I would rather be homeless in Colorado than living in Nebraska. I am impressed with the quality of their fans and the way they travel to away games, but in the end, I wind up hating them for it. I think my wife’s gradparents almost made her break up with me after seeing how I acted during a CU – Nebraska telecast. It was 2000, when we got the two point conversion to go ahead and then did the stupid squib kick to set up thier winning field goal. I think I spent the rest of the evening curled up in a ball crying like a baby while also displying symptoms of Turret’s Syndrom. I haven’t missed a CU-Nebraska game in Boulder since I was 8 years old and will also be heading to Lincoln on Thursday night. One of my favorite childhood memories: October 25, 1986: CU defeats Nebraska 20-10 and I stand with my dad in the stands for what seems like forever as the students tear down the goalposts. The University leaves the score on the scoreboard all night and into the next day. Have I mentioned that I love college football.
November 25th, 2002 on 12:18 pm
It is really hard to tell whether the emotional swing for me was worse at the 2000 game after we went for two to lead the game, or at that 1999 game with the missed Aldrich field goal to send the game into overtime. To this day I still think that field goal to end regualtion was good.
The other game that really is up there was the 1994 game. We entered that game ranked number 2 and were totally blown off the ball by the Husker defense. That was a real blow to the psyche.

I think my hate for Nebraska was bred into my from day one. The only problem is that I was born and raised in Omaha, Nebraska. I hate that. I was supposed to play at CU but blew both of my knees out. I am 21 and transfering to CU in the fall or winter with in state tuition. I drive around Omaha with CU buffalo licence plates on my truck. You know the university ones. Anyway, I have been to everygame since i can remember. I have put up with all of the crap my entire life. If you want the truth from from inside enemy lines, Nebraska fans are not as nice as everyone claims. They are just as rude and i think worse than some other notorious fans. I care not to venture too much because kids may be reading. The biggest crap i have heard lately is that everyone is making such a big deal about our big 12 rings. Do you think the mention that all of the scores are on the damn thing? NO the just bitch and moan about
62-36 because it hurts so bad. I am glad because they deserved it. I will be in lincoln like before and by the way I broke my ankle at the CU ISU game. (I was wasted):) I was jumping up and down with a CU blanket wraped around me like a cape! BUT i will be at the game DRESSED IN BLACK AND GOLD with a black and gold cast on!
GO BUFFS! lets go for 72-0 this year.
A true buff stuck in the corn fields.

This one time Mike and I “borrowed” Jakes car to go to lincoln….that was a long day, we got in, slept in the car for a couple hours painted up, went to the game, got some gas money for home and left.
November 26th, 2002 on 10:41 am
Nebraska’s line has always been that the Buffs aren’t rivals. That this is just like any other game. They don’t even pay attention to whom they are playing. I wonder if that is still the case. I wonder, if just maybe, they might sit up a pay little bit of attention this week. Perhaps Nebraska has a new rival after all.
November 27th, 2002 on 8:38 am
Have I mentioned that I’ve had that nervous/excited sick feeling all week. Can’t Friday be here already?
November 27th, 2002 on 9:09 am
Jesus Gampp you’re pregnant again??
I hear you buddy. All these articles about how we are going to crush them are great but I think we would all agree its better when we feel like the underdog or at least better when people aren’t saying this is just a walk in the park. These guys may be down and out (of the Big XII Championship, National Championship and everything else meaningful!!!) but they are going to be ready to play on Friday. This is not a gimme by any means. Plus the fans are going to be seething…don’t forget your Husker beat down stick!
November 27th, 2002 on 9:13 am
Oh and one other thing…I’d like to point out that I would rather get a proctology exam live, on stage during halftime of the Super Bowl than cheer for the Red Wings. But nice try Commie Gampp.
November 27th, 2002 on 10:25 am
I know your true feelings Ryno. What people don’t realize is the you truely enjoy proctology exams and public humiliation.
I really don’t like it when we’re the favorite or “supposed to win”. We always seem to stuggle when that’s the case. We are a much better football team when no one gives us a chance. However, Nebraska is going to have to play it’s best defensive game of the year to win this one. Their defense has had a lot of trouble tackling and defending the run. I don’t see it happening for them.

It’s still on my Tivo. I watch parts of it at least once a month.. And quite often we watch it before the games.
BTW Check out ESPN Classic this week. They are playing the old CU-NU games. I watched the Buffs win in 1989 last night. It ws kind of fun to see the field without Dal Ward

What is wrong with you people? You actually have a website trashing Nebraska. Thats pretty pathetic. You sit on your ass talking about how were not so kind ourselves when all you can do is sit here and talk sh*t about us. Ok id say ur all a bunch of hipocrites who are jealous of Nebraska because our football team has always been better then yours cuz u suck. So you all just sit around watching videos of that one time you actually did beat us b/c it makes you feel better about yourselves. Well guess what……..Colorado suxs and I can get people to tell you it suxs that have moved here from colorado! So I say you all just keep watching your little videos b/c its never going to happen again!

You Colorado fans have no class. GO BIG RED!!
October 10th, 2003 on 11:56 pm
You can tell that most CU fans have no class by the negative comments they always make. And you can see that the fact that they are always bad-mouthing NU means that they understand who is the better organization.
October 13th, 2003 on 9:02 am
Kevin,
In case you haven’t noticed, this website is about Colorado football. We critize our own team when we feel they are not playing well, making mistakes, coaching errors, etc. The reason you read negative comments about NU is because we have so many Husker fans who keep coming here and trash talking. We are certainly not going to let that go by without responding. If you want to stop reading negative comments about your team, then stop making them about ours. GO BUFFS!!!!!
November 14th, 2003 on 1:20 pm
Husker football is on it’s way out. There team is losing it. Colorado is soooo very much better. We are do to win this year. I will spit on them whenevery I get a chance because they deserve it for being so stupid. Go Buffs!!!
November 17th, 2003 on 3:56 pm
The one thing that Cu will never match is Huskers fans. Even the Denver newspaper said that we had the best fans. You guys are rude and the fact you think you are even in the same class as us is a huge joke. The air must be thin in Boulder. Fact remains that NU owns Colorado seeing as we have beat you 43 times in the last 61 matches. Not a rivaly just wishful thinking on your part.
November 17th, 2003 on 4:18 pm
HUSKERFOR LIFE – Too bad you keep losing to us. I suppose K St. isn’t a rivalry either, is it?
November 17th, 2003 on 6:46 pm
11 days ’til CU domination 2003!
Even though nebraska comes in to this game with impressive wins over South West Omaha Middle School and The Lincoln All Girls Choir (in OT), I think that the Buffs stand a pretty good chance. Let’s make it 3 in a row boys!!
November 17th, 2003 on 10:53 pm
you said it bleednblackngold! although I was surprised to see Nebraska pull the upsets over The Omaha School for the the blind and deaf and Boy Scout Troop #175! good job huskers!
seemin as the game is closin in on us, I think it’s time we start rockin out some of the NU jokes…
what’s the difference between cheerios and the huskers?…. Cheerios belong in a bowl!
What does a NU graduate say when he knocks on a CU graduate’s door?… Here you go, 1 large with pepperoni and a small with cheese.
What’s the best thing to come out of Nebraska?… The highway
And remember never try and compare Nebraska to Colorado. It’s so pathetic there that when memorial stadium’s full, it’s the 3rd largest city in Nebraska.
Peace and GO BUFFS!!!

Top 10 Nebraska Jokes:
10. That KSU win over NU last weekend was the most one-sided clobbering since an armless spastic dwarf launched a head-butting assault on Mike Tyson.
9. The Husker D-Line’s idea of playing involves stealing the nearest pair of eyeglasses and shouting “Not the face! Not the face!” whilst adopting the fetal position.
8. If NU sucked anymore than they already do, they’d implode.
7. Frank Solich! Here is a useful tip: eat 2lbs of spicy Indian curry and then fart your head back out of your butt.
6. Listening to Husker fans whine is like being viciously assaulted by a perfumed parakeet in a Parisian bordello.
5. Ever since losing to MU and KSU this year, NU fans’ keyboards have processed more denial than the stenographer at Bill Clinton’s Lewinsky hearings.
4. It is apparent that Frank Solich and reality never got along and have now permanently parted ways with irreconcilable differences.
3. Q. What does it say on the bottom of Coke bottles in Nebraska?
A. Open other end.
2. Q. How many Husker football fans does it take to change a light bulb?
A. Nobody knows because they are all standing around talking about how bright it used to be.
1. MIZZOU b**chslaped NU so hard, the Huskers saw more stars than the Hubble telescope.
By the way: St. Louis Blues
November 18th, 2003 on 7:47 am
Apparently Bo Pellini does not know much about the history of NU football. He complained to Bill Snyder after their K-State game about him running up the score. Someone needs to give Bo a history lesson as NU did that for years and years to their opponents (and still would given the chance). Obviously it is okay when they do it but not when it happens to them. I hope G.B. gets the chance to hang 70 on them this year. GO BUFFS!!!!!
November 18th, 2003 on 11:07 am
You know, no one in Nebraska really cares about this game, chill out, get over it. This season Nebraska sucks balls, Colorado sucks balls. Nebraska doesnt care, why should u, dont waste your time
November 18th, 2003 on 4:40 pm
NU – I thought everyone in Nebraska cared about every game. I thought that was why your fans were supposedly so “great”. Are the people of the corn getting to be a little fair-weathered?
November 19th, 2003 on 4:18 pm
I’ve got a couple nebraska jokes for ya
What to jammal lord and jim bakker have in common?
They can both get 50,000 people to stand on their feet and scream “Jesus Christ!!”
Why do birds fly upside-down over nebraska?
Nothin’ worth sh*tting on!
Why is Kansas so windy?
‘Cause nebraska sucks and oklahoma blows!
What’s the last thing a nebraska stripper takes off?
Her bowling shoes!
Why did O.J. want to move to nebraska?
Everyone there has the same DNA!

You no what Buff4life you are so stupid!!! At least peolple In Nebraska Support their team unlike Colorado. How many straight non-sellouts do you have?? I guess flatness, corn and no teeth are just appealing to some people.
December 23rd, 2003 on 2:46 pm
Actually Nebraska Has some very pretty parts. Another great thing is that who wants to live in an overcrowded state. I mean Colorado bearly has enough water for its people and is still growing to a larger population that it can not support. Pretty soon people will be coming from Colorado to Nebraska just to get away for vacation!!
December 24th, 2003 on 4:46 pm
don’t count on it, let’s weigh the differences:
Colorado:
Beautful mountains
Great skiing
More cities
Pro sports teams (6 if I’m not mistaken)
Historic sites (other than folsom field where the great 62-36 massacre took place of course)
Larger variety of wildlife
Awesome downtown in Denver and Boulder
Nebraska:
Corn
Rednecks
Flat ground
You make the choice.
December 25th, 2003 on 9:04 am
rednecks, I dont think so. If you want to see rednecks come down to Texas and see real rednecks(Aggies & Longhorns). Plus most of the state does not have corn and more than 80% is not flat. Maybe if actually went to Nebraska you would know.Plus if Folsom Field is a historic site than Memorial Stadium would be the 8th wonder of the world.

DENVER — Prospective Colorado football players were recruited with sex parties where women say they were raped, and school officials have resisted demands to stop the practice, according to depositions of a prosecutor and a police officer.
Boulder County District Attorney Mary Keenan, a potential witness in a federal lawsuit filed by a woman who says she was raped at a 2001 party attended by football recruits, made the statement during an October deposition, which was obtained by KUSA-TV.
School officials have denied Keenan’s accusations.
In her statement, Keenan said she met with athletic department officials after a 17-year-old girl reported she was raped by a football player or a recruit at a party in 1997.
Keenan said she met with university officials again after a woman said she was raped at the 2001 party. Keenan said she didn’t believe school officials took her complaints seriously.
Keenan said she was told by a former Colorado athletic department official that athletic director Dick Tharp and football coach Gary Barnett decided against any changes.
“They decided, after discussing the history, that they would not change anything because they could not afford to lose the competitive edge against universities such as Oklahoma [and] Nebraska,” Keenan said.
Barnett and Tharp denied the accusations.
“That is absolutely a 100 percent out-and-out lie,” Barnett said in Thursday’s Denver Post. “I can’t fathom why anyone would imply that, say that, or make that up. It is a lie.”
In another deposition in the lawsuit, university police officer Timothy Delaria described another 2001 party as “some kind of sex party for the recruits.”
Delaria’s deposition, made in May 2003, said recruits were shown a pornographic video and told that easy sex was a benefit of playing at Colorado.
Delaria, discussing a transcript of a police interview with a football recruit, said the recruit told officers, “They told us, you know, ‘This is what you get when you come to Colorado.’ ”
Keenan and Delaria gave their depositions as part of a lawsuit filed by Lisa Simpson, who contended she was sexually assaulted by two men at the 2001 party. Simpson filed her case anonymously but later said she wanted to set an example that victims need not feel ashamed.
Prosecutors filed no sexual assault charges after the party because they said they did not think they could be proved. Four players were charged with providing marijuana and alcohol to minors.
Another woman has filed a lawsuit against the university saying she, too, was sexually assaulted at the party.
Nice work CU

Hey Mark,
Pay attention!! This thread was about the Nebraska game 2 years ago, not about allegations of recruits!!!
February 1st, 2004 on 10:27 am
Hey Buffs,
Better keep your recruits away from the buffalo, they mistake them for your sisters, mothers, and daughters and rape them as well. Crimminals!!!
February 1st, 2004 on 12:00 pm
BuffLady qouit trying to change the subject. You Know that Barnett has embarrased you and all the other fans of CU. Maybe instead of clling us idiots , you Colorado Fans should find away to fire Barnett. You can not say that Barnett is a good coach or a good person after this.
February 19th, 2004 on 11:18 am
I bet you are real proud of your Buffs now!!
March 3rd, 2004 on 5:39 am
What football program? Leading the Big 12, huh? Are you guys totally out of touch with reality here? Let’s be realistic here. Barnett is so fired he’s already a cinder, CU is going on NCAA probation, potentially losing the football program altogether and potentially getting ejected from he Big 12…you’re nuts if you think NU has ever had anywhere near this magnitude of catastrophe befall our program.
It’ll have to be women’s soccer for you fans from here on in I’m afraid. Utterly pathetic.
March 7th, 2004 on 6:34 pm
I have went to a few NU-CU games in Boulder and i have to say that your fans are the biggest jackasses ive ever seen, ive been to alot of away games and CU are the most classless people ive ever been around, but when i go to Ft. Collins and watch a game there isnt any problems. CSU fans are some of the best ive ever been around. I hate your goddamn state, your people, I fucking hate everything about your worthless piece of shit state. You all think you are better than anyone else with your noses in the air. I hope every team that you play beats the hell out of you. I hope the NCAA puts it to you hard, CAUSE IT COULDNT OF HAPPENED TO A BETTER COLLEGE! FUCK YOU < CU FANS!!!!
March 13th, 2004 on 9:43 pm
WAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!!!!!
How’bout that, you fuckin fluffs fans???!!! Your school is probably doing a worse job of protecting itself than SMU did in the late 80′s! Fuck you and I hope that you get the death penalty. By the way, nice comment, Cory.
P.S.: Ted Roof at Duke is a better football coach than your so-called great Barnett! FUCK UP THE FLUFFS NEXT YEAR, NEBRASKA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
March 15th, 2004 on 5:40 am
How many credits do you get for takeing rape management 101? I think its a required course in Boulder these days.
March 26th, 2004 on 5:42 am
It’s funny you have a Neb. week. Why don’t you asses use this time to fix your program. Neb. is doing what it takes to win, but I guess you were to busy staring at strippers and raping women to notice. Let’s all hope your on probation and that piece of shit Barnett get flushed. FUCK OFF to every loser in your fucked up state, I hate you all!
