OU lots – CU little

Well, you can’t win a game with 5 turnovers. You can’t win a game with 5 turnovers and 2 missed field goals.
Short field. I don’t think Oklahoma’s field could have been shorter. They had scoring drives of 39, 7, 24, and 9 yards. They did have one longer drive of 71 yards which we hled them to a field goal on. This drive was aided by a 62 yard Quentin Griffin run which we had covered but our defender slipped under the adverse conditions.
We outgained Oklahoma by 78 yards. We outrushed them and we out passed them. Pretty surprising despite how dismal Robert Hodge looked at times. We were also 7 for 18 on third downs. This was after OU went some 6 quarters without allowing a third down conversion.
I don’t think that their defense was as scary as it was made out to be. we were able to move the ball on them. And we held their offense in check with the exception of the blown coverage on the first touchdown and the missed tackle on Griffin for his long run, we played well. (Hybl’s last two tocuhdown passes were pretty and you can’t deny them.)
Chris Brown had 70 yards in the first period, but we failed to run him on first and 10 from the OU 15. I think we left the game plan a little early. Our offensive line, our backs, and Brandon Drum are designed to pound. Let’s pound it man.
Everyone is talking about the rematch and I will be the first to tell you that I want a rematch too, but let’s win 2 more before we start talking about it.

Chris Brown said after the game “I’m really sick”… perhaps thats why they left the game plan eariler than expected.

I think the painful thing about this loss is that it showed that we can beat these guys. I think we outplayed them in every aspect but turnovers and special teams. I expected us to lose this game, but I feel sick about the loss after seeing how well we can stack up with them. Not even fielding a kickoff? Piss poor. Hopefully, the team won’t overlook Missouri this weekend and is able to take care of Iowa State the next. Then it’s party time in Lincoln and revenge time in Houston.

Look, we lost the game and I totally agree with Gampp, we could have beat OU without a doubt. My problem is that the Buffs seem to embarass themselves in each of their losses, which makes recruiting quality players problematic becuase their egos are at risk of shattering when the team gets their ass kicked. On top of that, every major university has an indoor practice field which allows the offense and defense to practice together, which could have helped our game preparation. Maybe luxury box seats at Folsom field were the wrong thing to spend money on, because everyone knows that if the product on the field sucks, no one will pay the price for those seats.

Keep in mind that the reason they are building those boxes and club seats is for the added revenue in order to build better facilities. When you figure that the boxes go for $1 million a pop plus ticket prices, it shouldn’t take long to recover costs and use the new revenue for things like an indoor practice facility. In general, we don’t have the huge boosters that a lot of southern schools have. I think Tharp has a decent plan in place that does involve an indoor practice facility. Last I heard they had sold most of the boxes. Come on rich people, buy those club seats!

If you are rich, or know someone who is rich and would like to sponsor a buffs.tv luxury box, let Marc know.
