Preseason Top 25s
filed in Rankings on Jul.02, 2002
This is the goldmine for all preseason Top25s. Nationalchamps.net has a listing of all of the preseason rankings released so far this year. Here is the quick hit list of where we stand….
6, 7, 5, 7, 8, 8, 17?, 7, 7, 10, 9, 8, 7
Act like we’re ice skating here and throw out the highest and lowest and we get an average of 7.6 not bad I would say. Now if we can only live up to it. There have been years in the past where we have had great preseason rankings, but then only ended up choking. Then again we had the inferior Rick Neuheisel coaching at the time.

7.6? That hardly does us justice. I’m geared for Top 3. I can see Top 10 for the first part of the season but when it is all said and done we are Top 3 material.

What the hell is wrong with the Atlanta Constitution-Journal? 17? I think you lose all credibility when you’re that off from everyone else.

I think we are in the cat bird seat so to speak. Starting this high, we just need to keep winning. Texas and Oklahoma CAN’T both go udefeated; they play each other. We will most likely end up playing one of them in Kansas City. Tennessee plays Florida and Miami. Again, only one can go undefeated. Miami and Florida play Florida St. Everyone ahead of is going to beat up on each other. As along as we take care of buisness we should be at least number 2 by bowl time.

Keep in mind that we have to play Oklahoma as well. In Norman at that. Definately our toughest game of the year. We could see somewhat of a repeat of last year and have to play a team twice, once during the regular season and once in the championship game. To get a shot at the national championship, we have to win the Big XII and not lose too badly in Norman. No other losses. Of course, I would take two wins over OU, but let’s cross that bridge when we get there.

After the non conference schedule, I agree the Oklahoma game is damn tough especially playing in Norman, but we also have to play in Licoln. But you don;t want to look ahead too far. Remmeber we were looking ahead last year and lost to Fresno St. That was crap. Without that game Colorado ends up playing for the national championship hands down. Period end of story.. I don’t care how well you can play the jazz piano.
